It’s the worst map of the worst mode in the game. Always a pain. In fact retire Push and bring back 2CP instead.
for a more constructive argument, what are the points that annoy you about push maps and specifically THIS map?
Don’t remove either of them. Rework Push to address the complaints and add more cover to the long stretch in the centre of Colosseo.
It’s hard to explain why it dislike it so. Half of the map is simply not used, the other one is a long corridor that ends in a fortress. I feel like on this map I run to the battle for too long until I reach the end and die there because the bridge is difficult to take. Teams split very easily on their way through the corridor. It’s a mess. Trying to flank is a fool’s errand too, the areas adjacend to the corridor are too isolated.
Other two maps aren’t that bad, especially New Queen Street can be quite fun.
The area around the checkpoint is atrocious. I can’t think of any maps that loop like that in present-day Overwatch and it feels terrible because they can either push up and hold that choke and get a free checkpoint plus a fair bit of distance, or the defending side completely walls them out from getting the CP because of quick access from spawn.
There’s also a whole load of pointless space on the map and the spawn layout is kinda bad overall.
Is it just me, or is it also insanely ugly compared to Esperança and NQS? Maybe I just need to see it on night lighting, but I feel the afternoon lighting makes it look super gross. Morning lighting is of little improvement. Also, I feel like those glass panels between some of the pillars in the centre are more annoying than anything else.
I doubt any Romans will see this topic, but I’d be super interested in hearing from them.
Say what you will about the actual map part, but there’s no way you can deny that the backdrop looks stunning.
Yep straight down to the bottom of the list. Agree with everything in the thread, half the map not used, not impressive visually, the starting point for the bot is just a long hallway with glass for some reason on the sides, etc. etc.
The 2nd checkpoint isn’t as terrible, I like the bendy bridge part. But the rest is bad.
so basically it annoys you that in this “horseshoe” path it makes the area of the central fountain + internal doors almost useless.
In my opinion, I think this is a weakness but also a strategic advantage of the map. it allows the flankers to outwit their opponents with a longer road… but also more hidden than New Queen Street and Esperanca (much more dizzying in the course). And I don’t mind that there’s this kind of variety where the central aisle also makes for a tight space. incentivizes a variety of very good hero picks (like maps that have environmental and non-environmental deathspots).
Of course it’s a drawback the longer time it takes to walk that hidden path, but… it’s also a benefit against enemy formations that are fossilized in a specific point of the map (especially on the arch of the bridge before the first check point) . perhaps the only thing I’d change for coliseum would be to bring the respawn area a little closer after passing the first checkpoint, but all in all it’s definitely a great strategic variety.
I’m Italian, but you don’t need to be Roman to say it’s a wrong stylistic choice in a futuristic context (stupid note: it annoys me more that for the third time in an Italian map there isn’t a cup of our typical espresso, lol
) .
I can say however that although you get used to that glass immediately… I agree that a greater contrast in the color is necessary rather than simply making it “slightly dark” ![]()
Thanks, I appreciate your feedback.
For me it’s a gameplay thing. I can see it fine, I know where they are, it’s just yet another annoying thing in the way in a game that has millions of garbage annoying things in the way:
Ya it’s just that main corridor which is annoying when I play flanker heroes the map isn’t as annoying.
The mode is db though the whole.push the robot thing
Agreed.
I strongly believe 2cp was not as bad as most people say, but push… push is freaking worse than what we say.
Of all the Push maps, Colosseo is actually my favorite. Even if it wasn’t, I would still rather Push over 2CP
just get rid of the push mode completely.
my problem is that theres multiple points on colleseo where you cant really have a good counter offensive
and due to the very close respawn by the time youve cleared the enemy team and brought the robot back to the beginning you will almost defiantly need to fight the enemy team, and if your unlucky enough to not pass the point so the enemys respawn, your fighting a losing game since it takes less than a second to go from respawn to murder
My beef is that I always think I’m playing Rialto when the game first loads. Otherwise, it’s fine.
Mostly, long sniper sightlines with not much cover.
But also very specifically the glass towards the starting objective area should be removed.
That said, turning all ranged oneshots into damage-over-time effects would fix a lot of these maps people say that hate.
Especially since these Petal Platforms are going to “break map geometry” in regards to Widow sightlines.
I’m gonna assume we have the same reasons but here’s a couple
-Too big, there’s no short cuts compared to the other.
-forward spawn is honestly no different from regular spawn
-push is really difficult to recover from a large lead,
-it’s too slow, the timer is really long and every game ends in extended overtime.
Some of my personal issues with it that I’d imagine others share
Drop push mode.
It’s a running simulator, especially as support.
Die, run back watching helplessly as teammates die one by one. Almost make it back as last teammate dies.
Turn around, run back the way you came to regroup. Regroup, run back to robot.
Bad.
It heavily favors the winners of the first team fight. Take a big lead and trade team fights for 8 minutes never losing your lead.
If the game made makes you think “I have three more minutes of this crap” when you are WINNING it’s bad.
I think with map rotation coming out, push will be less annoying due to the simple fact that it’s less frequent. I don’t think he’s that bad, but playing them multiple times really bothers us. Push has his issues, but he’s not as bad as he seems. 2cp sucks.
