Remove Archives achievements from Steam

If the event(s) won’t return, the achievements should be removed from the Steam version’s achievement list. Keep them in-game for those who unlocked them.

Removing/repurposing them would allow (newer) players to 100% OW2, and showcase it on their Steam profile.

There going to try and sell it to us but haven’t figured out how without looking like complete scumbags for reselling a 5 year old product. They Gotta make 10 new skins and 100 useless trinkets in regards to it first.

I really don’t get the reasoning for these not coming back, my best guesses are

  1. They think these missions are worse than the new ones and would make the PvE seem like a worse deal than it actually is
  2. They think giving people too much free PvE would discourage them from paying for PvE missions
  3. Some bugs happened in these missions during the transfer to OW2 and it wasn’t worth fixing

The third one is the only one that seems reasonable

Won’t be surprising if it get repackaged as paid dlc.
Why else wouldn’t have it as an event already? There was no issue recycling any of the other old events.

well, it doesn’t seem to me that any particular achievement is considered in ow2. look at how they handled Illari, who has challenges rather than achievements to unlock her chibi / pixel versions
. or look at the crazy bipolarity of the classification of the players’ experience: if you go to your profile there is still the frame of your experience in ow1 it’s a horrible graphic of opaque badges for the progression of ow2. and can I point out how ridiculous it is to still see the event classifications of all ow1 content while ow2 ONLY offers BP or shop classifications?

We already knew that ow2 has a disastrous conversion process, it doesn’t just affect the achievements.

I don’t think it’s any of the three options in particular. I rather think that they wanted to avoid proposing archives this year to avoid the controversy of “but then why did we wait 3 years of development stop if they follow practically the same identical narrative dynamic that is not so replayable?”. did you notice how they advertised the pve praising above all the voicelines and the cinematics rather than the actual innovations of the gameplay dynamics? or that when they felt sorry for the cancellation of the pve power ups (recycled in this diablo mode event) they didn’t mention archives at all but rather a dead project like Titan that no one was particularly interested in digging up because OBVIOUSLY we all had archives in our heads as an idea for pve ? Well, I rather think that they wanted to make the comparison seem less obvious for the players who arrived with ow2, completely ridiculing those three years of waiting that they asked of us and the following coming soon that we are experiencing now for continuity.

I don’t think they will never re-propose archives again but… they certainly made too many mistakes in praising pve compared to how it was presented in blizzcon 2019 blizzconline 2021 (one more reason why self-celebratory events like blizzcon should become extinct after having been ridiculed in the broken promises)
