I’m sure the topic says it all. Again, I’m new to OW and I’ve yet to have fun in any modes so far. So I decided to try DeathMatch and I still can’t grasp the joy of this game. Maybe DM isn’t the way to go but I feel like I’m missing something to effectively have any fun or enjoy the game. If you are the person who started playing Overwatch from day 1, this game may have some interest towards you but as a “noob” I can’t find a thing to say positive about it. There should be a feature outside of QuickPlay or DeathMatch to effectively allow for progression to help people practice. Not one mode besides “Practice Range” which DOES NOT help or PvAI. Can we at least get a mode where you can pick and choose which category you can a cannot play against to help practice? Like a DM mode where you play against only Damage or only Support or only Tanks to help with progression? This is only my second post on this forum and nothing has been positive yet except for character development. I find each “hero” interesting but that’s about all. I want to enjoy something new because I’ve heard about Blizzard making great content but so far, I’m not too sure what that is yet. All I’m asking for in a an easier way to prepare myself for a competitive game.
Death match is fine for improving your 1v1 skills but if you want to improve your gameplay as a whole you should queue for competitive once you’re familiar with the basics of the hero you want to play
That’s exactly it. I am trying to improve my 1v1 skills so I figured DeathMatch was the way to go, outside of AI. However lots of other people play Tanks. I like to learn the Damage hero category. But as I’ve learned Tanks are way better with higher “HP” than most other hero’s. Oh I do not have the ability to play the hack hero yet because she is still locked for me but she is impossible to play against along with the RoadHog hero. Maybe I shouldn’t play as Tracer.
You need paragraphs here. It’s hard to read your entire thesis.
I agree with the title that tanks shouldn’t be in death match. And I am a tank main too. It’s just not a fun experience for anyone really.
This is why they never, never should have locked heroes behind progression. I know you want to enjoy the game, but its going to be hard, just ask anyone here.
DM is a pretty easy going mode. No one’s going to tell you to switch, and you can practice your 1v1s. Tanks do tend to lessen the fun of the mode, though.
Pick a hero you click with, and above all don’t get discouraged. There is fun to be found here. The game’s just not always user friendly.
I’ve actually heard other players telling other players, in DM mode, to swap off Tank hero’s multiple times because they are “unfair” to play against. A hero like Road Hog and Wrecking Ball and DVA have been told to swap because apparently they are very over powered in Death Match. I mean I kinda see it in a way.
Hog, DVA, Hazard and mauga are OP in DM. No squishie in the game can touch them
Deathmatch will never be balanced as long as tanks have their “supertanks” ability stats.
There used to be… it was quick play.
Really, it still is, but you’ll run into players in QP that want to treat it like Comp and even here on the forums, there are players that will die on the hill that QP is ‘not casual’ and should be taken seriously. You can just go ahead and ignore all of those players.
But the good news is, you can just mute chat and go play in QP to learn and practice.
I wouldn’t worry about trying to practice and learn in death match too much. It’s fine enough, but if you are looking to learn the game as a new player, playing a game mode that has you actually play through matches with map objectives is going to be the best way to go.
Just do QP, you’ll be fine.
