Long range shots will never hit by luck by hanzo at long range. the issue is that the hanzo preaims on the maps that have 3 corners and get the hit. at long range hanzo cannot react to jukes from the opponent. if the opponent is dodging, and he calculates the target’s speed and trajectory and lets loose an arrow, the opponent can change directions and move too far for a hit. This is true for all projectile weapons. at long range they do not have guaranteed hits regardless of the aimer’s skill if the target is aware of the hanzo’s position and moves. at best the hanzo can get maybe 20-30% headshot rate in that direction. then why do so many die at these long ranges? they know where the target is walking and loose the arrow as the target exits the corner, or the target walked in a straight line too long.
Hanzo at long range is not really deadly. it’s in the mid range where he can guarantee the headshot if he has the aim for it
low rank players complain about hanzo getting to spam for free from long range too much. but that is a sign your team either needs a shield, needs a sniper, or needs to play dive. The dev team has already given 3 options for dealing with it.
Does that mean I don’t hate hanzo. No, I hate when the enemy tank is protecting their hanzo so he gets to spam for free but I cannot engage on him as half the dps cast and my own tank is not enabling me.
But this is fundamentally a problem that players do not create good comps.
the enemy has a hanzo and you get a roadhog, so then as dps you are going to get spammed for free. worse if the enemy hanzo has a sig walling for him.
Personally I find swapping to tracer so I’m not reliant on my tank or likely to get sniped is good, or widow if I think I can beat the enemy hanzo. And yes many games the hanzo wins, but when your team is not willing to swap and expects the dps to carry the duel, there are very few choices that will work vs the snipers.
They could just nerf/remove snipers, but the blizz team probably expected that the tank players would actually want to win, and swap and dive the sniper. Boy were they wrong. Everyone only has time to learn 1-2 chars, and they aren’t planning to swap anytime soon
