Remind me why payload heals and OT Def is punished

is it just so the games can last longer in comp by going multiple rounds?

just seems severely punishing for Defense, in QP especially.

Because the payload does not have to be occupied by the defensive team when they have control of it. Whereas at least one member of the attacking team must stay on the payload in order to move it forward. The heal benefit gives the attacking team which is forced to be drawn to the payload a slight benefit to last longer on it.

I’d also argue is helps curb the insanely strong respawn advantage final point payload maps get for the defending team.

Ah, in my mind I just think if Offense takes the entire time to capture then Defense ought to win?

EDIT: maybe not “ought to win”, but shouldn’t be punished for a bad opposing Offense.

The payload kinda makes sense I suppose. Just frustrating when you’re already getting steamrolled and the game becomes 7v6 with the additional cover(payload) and heals.

EDIT: I wonder if Push will be the same way…
