Indeed. I did my one and only foray into the PTR server when he was first announced and loved both the character design and game play.
However, it was not until nearly 1.5 years after he was released that i decided to really try him out in actual games.
It was my last attempt to make the game fresh for myself after 2 years of playing Reinhardt, Orisa, Sigma only to see all of them nerfed to oblivion.
The hamster saved my OW life and i had been playing him for over a year to the tune of 60+% QP win percentage and my personal proud achievement of 51% win percentage on QPC.
Meanwhile, all these years until now, as you said, everyone said that the hamster was a meme and throwpick and now he is suddenly “op” and “oppressive”. ha.

Oddly, many of the same people who called Hammond ridiculous also deeply wished for Jetpack Cat.

Yes, he definitely does.
I thank Jeff that he pushed it through into the game.
I think that it really is in line with the overall vision that the world of OW is a strange, wondrous and fantastical place.
P.S. i would not be surprised if Jeff is a fan of Eastman & Laird.

I remember mostly the shock that Hammond was a rodent and not as previously assumed – a gorilla or any other monkey.
I won’t lie, I was also expecting another primate. But, there was immediate acceptance and laughter when I found out our next hero was a hamster lol
