Remember when we use

To not have hero bans and Map selection? Ahh such dark times.

I haven’t experienced hero bans since I haven’t played comp in years. Map voting on the other hand, I have been suffering with ever since it got added…

Indeed.

I am happy to offer my data for informed balance or design decisions, both as it pertains to heroes and maps.

Indeed. I finally get super lucky and get the map I want (which no one else ever wants) and everyone leaves. Like I play your damned maps…

I remember when No Limits was the main game mode. Fun times.

Those were nice times, because we had more gameplay variety. Now people have a way to effectively remove content for other players just because they don’t like it.

Simpler times. Map voting and hero bans are fine but I also didn’t mind not having any of it back then. It was chill.

backseat gamers have won, i kinda blame this new generation of softies

honestly with map selections, i feel like I came to appreciate other gamemodes. Playing kings row and illios for the nth time gets plenty boring

I remember when we didn’t have a yellow dot on the main menu that won’t go away. They “fixed” it, but it still comes back every time you login.

The game was much better before the arrival of the current/second instance of hero bans in this game

aside: the first instance of hero bans in this game was called hero pools. This system banned heros, and ergo, was the first instance of hero bans in this game

indeed.

none of these restrictions are needed.

I’m glad the devs took a risk of trying their hand at this first instance of hero bans. It seems to be wildly popular

It doesn’t really matter to me. I don’t even vote in the map phase. As for bans, those should be fixed by game instead of players every game it should random ban 2 heroes in each role. Then you will get what you get. Cats would be happy mean girls would be happy too. No more blaming you banned my hero no more saying they always ban this or that, easy fix.

And no, I don’t want bans to be removed because it brings some fresh air into every competitive game and a little bit of randomness.

The only thing more surprising to me that they came up with such a robost ban system is that they haven’t messed around with it yet and ended up ruining it.

They’ve threatened us with “improvements” to it, though, so I won’t be shocked if that comes to an end. Maybe preferred characters will be harder to ban, or new character outright immune to banning for their first season. There’s all sorts of ways the devs can make it worse and I’m excited to see how it unfolds!
