Remember when we had a PTR?

Remember betas? Remember when they just didn’t push stuff to live and they would reconsider something when it didn’t sit so well, instead of making huge drastic change like this and just pushing it live? You guys remember experimental cards? You guys remember heroes of the storm? Remember leveling in that game? Remember how this also wasn’t a hero shooter?

Honestly not to mention a lot of these perks to me felt like QoL on characters that shouldve been there baseline like Juno’s faster lockon on allies, Lifeweaver’s grasp cleansing or Junker Queen not requiring 100% efficiency to not die.

By the way in the chinese release there is now currency to buy lootboxes. So much for OW2.

I remember those. I also remember mercy 2.0, brig, and sigma all going through those and we know what state they went live in.

Yes a PTR. That would have been a much better idea. I don’t get paid to test their game, and not very fond of being volunteered against my will.

I love overwatch but given their history with balance and how it could take months if not years for a gutted hero to get in a stable state again or to make up their mind about them, i knew the moment i saw perks that it was gonna make all current and future heroes even more of a nightmare for them to balance and work on and they went on with it anyway.

Its like these people looked at HOTS, battleborn and gigantic (who died twice, by the way) and some of the aspects that didnt quite work with them and went “Yeah! Let’s do that!”

I totally agree it will take time for them to balance them out more. My point was ptr and experimental did pretty much nothing. They rarely ever made changes from that before going live. It essentially just let us see the balance changes a week early.

There is time where it did. Am i glad none of the absolute dogwater reworks they tried with Junkrat and Moira never ever went through. But then they stepped back on stuff that was actually cool like beta tank doomfist and junker queen knife going through defense matrixes.

The Moira stuff was to test it. They didn’t plan for it to just go live. Ptr in general was not for testing, which is how we ended up with mercy 2.0, brig and sigma launch. All incredibly broken.

Just like how they have done tests in ow2 as well, like their multiple qp hacked events, 6v6 tests.

oh yeah my point was more that overall, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE GETTING ONE OF THOSE FOR PERKS

(Also reminder the first quickplay hacks were mandatory, not optionnal. So we had the same issue we have right now)

They also remember PTR and even explained it back then, why they dont do it anymore. It was popular for like 1-3 days and then not used anymore, leading that they had to gather data in the live game anyway. Back than it was also mainly used to fix bugs and not balance.

Possibly, but they likely get much better data from it just being live in the game, than the people playing a testing mode. Maybe it should have only been in qp to start, idk. But personally I’m fine with their being a new fun mechanic even if it’s not balanced perfectly.

As far as releasing it without testing, they kind of painted themselves into a corner with the way they announced the spotlight and and the new ground breaking changes, etc.

Even I remember thinking “I’m not going to care about this spot light unless it features new things that will immediately be implemented into the game the next season… if it’s nothing but ‘future’ changes and promises, I don’t care” and Blizz probably felt the same way, and figured many of us would, too.

Its all in one now
It is the alpha and the omega
The beta and the alpha
We are the testers
We are the ptr
We are the live service
We are the game

One with everything.

I remember all that, i missed getting new stuff on lootboxes, but as someone who played a lot i had everything and only got duplicates

I’m less worried about the state they go live in and more worried about them all taking countless months or even years to balance.

We’re going to quickly find out which perks are broken and which ones are useless, but how long is Blizzard is going to take to fix them?

Its pointless. The shills around here are so mind washed that it may as well be a lost cause to point out the glaringly obvious flaws with how awful this game actually is.

The PTR challenged Zen to a snowball fight and lost. :sob:

The vast majority of people love perks and this update has received overwhelmingly positive feedback so why are you pretending it going on PTR first would have changed anything…? You being in a minority that dislikes it doesn’t mean everyone else needs to wait lol

If you dont like the changes dont play bruh its not that serious

To be fair… did they really consider it before pushing to live ?

They pushed 225 Cree despite literally everyone saying it was a terrible change. I really think the PTB was mostly to test if the change would blow up your PC… outside of that? P much everything that was on PTB was pushed to live

Still an open wound :slightly_frowning_face: I bought it day one of its re-release, and despite all the bugs I still had a blast. I miss you Aisling  I actually feel like I got scammed lmao
