Why did anyone do that again? I’d like an actual explanation.
It was either:
It wasn’t pay walled because you could grind for it (ignoring the fact that you could pay to get the newest OPest hero instantly or be forced to play against said OP hero for over half the BP).
And that other games like Apex Legends pay wall heroes (comparing your business model to EA’s isn’t good, and you also can’t switch Legend mid-game in Apex and their abilities are only minor additions as the focus is on the guns which are free and available to everyone as it’s a BR. Also Apex has a better system as you can bank up Legend points and buy the new legend with a free currency on day 1, but in OW you always started at 0 and had to grind 45 whole levels from scratch).
Seriously, how can someone suck on boots THAT HARD?
Paladins also had Champions unlocked unless you purchased them. However the currency to purchase them was free currency you earn in game after every match played. I was never a fan of that either.
Glad Overwatch changed their minds on that one. I also never understood how people defended that either.
i remember shillers deffending overwatch 2 lame, scummy and crappy features that people still deffend
“nooo they bring back a 2017 skin nobody, not even me uses, my artificial exclusivity nooo”
“green weapons should be locked forever so i feel special about having them”
“is a free to play game, they need to get money somehow, a $20 recolor is fine”
“good thing they cancelled pve, the can focus on pvp even if havent improved at all since pve cancelation”
“hero bans is good for the game”
Remember when they said a surprise “gift” was coming for people who owned OW1, and then the way they revealed heroes would be p2w was by saying this “gift” was unlocking kiriko for free? What a clown company
explaining to someone who lacked the intellectual capacity to comprehend that EVERYONE gets that char, and lets be honest, its not HALF of the BP, since it came in the first part, and the XP required to gain a lvl is minimal.
secondly, for the vast majority of players, they are just plain bad at the game and even if they got the new class right away, would not be able to do anything helpful to the team, since they would go watch their favourite streamer, then parrot everything that streamer says/does, and then the player still couldnt play the new char right
It was an awful and tone deaf decision. And then after the season ends, the unlock process is even more terrible. Play 50 matches as a tank? I have thousands. Give me a break. Grind for the sake of grind isn’t great.
Then again… I don’t think this change deserves praise either… after all, you can’t sell skins for heroes you haven’t unlocked yet. I think that’s the only reason blizzard took them out of the battle pass.
