Sigma’s melody was too strong 
But Sigma as a character is very based around music and theories. Remember, Origin Stories are based around the character. Not how cool the video is.

The way how it was presenting was not interesting and there was not really much on the “story” part either.
No origin story will ever top Doomfist’s so it’s not the end of the world, we’ve already seen the best thing ever
Have you thought that they might be leaving out certain details because Sojourn is an extremely important character for OW2s campaign and maybe that is the reason why it seems or feels less impactful?
Talon-related characters always get the best shorts, stories, marketing and music. Well to be fair, it’s always the villains that get the cooler stuff.
But really, Widowmaker and Sigma both have iconic melodies, Sombra’s first reveal at the Blizzcon 2016 was sick especially after the huge ARG, Moira and Reaper have some of the coolest designs in my opinion, and all of them have really interesting backstories that tie into the lore with other characters. Oh yeah, Doomfist who was teased since the very beginning of the game and was really hyped around. Really, they’ve always done an amazing job at promoting Talon’s heroes.
Overwatch already constitues one of my favourite video game lore, I may be biased because I really love this game, but Talon takes the crown. Easily one of the most well developped video game evil organization out there.
Sigma’s origin tells us the least information about the hero shown. Everything in his origin is abstract.

sombra suffered from taking way too damn long.
Sigma lowkey has the best short in the entire series, even better than most 3d ones, the writing and directing is on point.

It was also just better written, compare his video to sojourn’s. It barely even talks about her, ahem, origin.
Not only did it take long but the first countdown led to a SECOND countdown which made no sense and killed all the hype…
