I know it’s preference but I’m trying to eliminate any objective inefficiencies in my aiming style. My sens is 43 cm/360 at 1600 dpi 2 in-game.
I brace my elbow area on my thigh and pivot using my elbow.
I was thinking this morning that this is inefficient because I’m not fully utilizing my MASSIVE mousepad(because elbow as pivot can only cover so much area vs. having my arm straight and aiming)
So I was thinking is using elbow as the brace point and pivot at that sens ok? Or should I straighten my arm and use a different brace point?
Currently my surface is not at the correct to allow straight arm aiming while bracing so I experimented with hovering it above the mousepad. My range of motion greatly increased obviously but without bracing my y-axis was unstable and my arm was fatigued.
I think your overthinking it. Play with what feels most controllable and conformable to you. There is no need of thinking about all these factors. Though I am curious why your elbow is on your thigh… I recommend if anything just get a giant mouse pad put your mouse on it and use it. If you want the technicality what i do. I usually just put my whole hand on the table, elbow too and I use all three parts to aim. Fingers, hand, and arm.
My sens right now is 6 using a dpi of 1000 (I use my wrist to aim, very rarely my whole arm when scoped with widow/ana), I used to have higher sens but then again, I used to be hardstuck diamond and I’m now at 3917 SR. So I’d suggest going lower than you’re used to so you don’t ever overshoot targets AND get some kind of chair with an armrest if you use your wrist to aim, else rest your arm on the table and get a big mousepad I guess.
You have a high dpi. At least for me. I have a 1foot and a half wide mouse pad and my sense is 1400dpi 3 sensitivity. I find its a perfect mix of control and accuracy ;3 Im 3600 btw.
That’s probably because I usually use my wrist for aiming, and (I Think) you use your whole forearm to aim. Wrist is normally better for flicking and Arm aim is normally better for tracking.
Ya most likely. I play everything except widow(I dont know why I suck so much with widow) so I need somewhat of a hybrid sensitivity. Used to have a problem with tracer and genji doing 180s so i actually turned it up from 2 sensitivity x3 I use all three parts of my hand to aim. Fingers arm hand
I guess you get the best of both worlds ^ _ ^
I’m in the same boat - I took on PC gaming for the first time last year and really struggled with aim. I feel like I’m comfortable with my setup right now, but that it could definitely be better. I like to use the claw grip, but find myself moving my whole arm in aim intensive fights. When I’m moving my whole arm, I feel like my accuracy goes down and need to work on that. I use 800 DPS 4.5 Sens.

Okay I was thinking i might be overthinking hahaha. I have severe OCD with compulsive rumination but I’m medicated lol.
Thanks for your input! Okay I’ll keep grinding away, my accuracy is increasing, my aim against ana bots has gone from 26 percent warming up to 29 percent after to 31 percent and 34-36 percent on Tracer. I feel like there are movements just not ingrained yet in my muscle memory.
It’s really annoying because my Tracer/Genji/Zarya/Doom aim is on point on console and I feel like this past week I have acheived the equivalent to me just starting to play on console haha.
My accuracy in comp is way worse, I’ve fallen down to 1400 something from 2000 lmao! I think I’m playing scared and overthinking my aim even more. I’ll keep grinding comp and Ana bots till I’m acclimated.
Thanks for your input all!
My arm is resting on my thigh because I’m using a shelf from my tv stand for my mouse pad on a bed hahaha
Oof, You should get a desk. Best invention 1400ac. But if your just fresh from console best think i can tell you to do is just find a consistent set up and play and I do mean CONSISTENT. eventually you’ll get used to your sensitivity and just PLAY PLAY PLAY. I used to have a desk where it would have a pull out keyboard stand under the desk and thats where my mouse would be, right below my keyboard. Got a new desk, everything was on the same elevation. My aim sucked for a week, couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. So consistency, shouldn’t be hard with ocd right ;3 This is a joke please dont get triggered blizzard
But this will make me unique when I stream with a mouse cam (;
Ok yessss I see the value of consistency. Haha actually my OCD stuff makes me think OH NO EVERYTHING IM DOING IS WRONG I MUST CHANGE IT. but that is reassuring hearing your input. I ditched playing console to make sure im only playing with a mouse, has helped a lot
Mhmm, goodluck on your climb. Hope to see you on the battlefield Solider.(Cringe ;~;)
