i know reindhardt vs roadhog isnt something that anyone cares about, but for a game thats supposed to have less hard counters this interaction is absolutely absurd.
reindhardt is completely incapable of damaging hog, with the charge and firestrike damage reduction its no longer possible to kill a hog even with a direct earthshatter.
the way to fix this would be to make reindhardt to deal partial percent based damage with hammer, like base 55 with 20% max hp of target bonus (deals 85 damage vs tracer).
To make this balanced against less broken tanks the % based damage could be reduced by around 70% against armor and not count temporary health
also maybe to compensate for the buff fire strike could be turned into a damage over time burning effect.

Rein is (sorta) completely unable to damage Hog, but Hog is also unable to safely approach a whole team behind the shield other than peak+right click to break it

I think hog overall needs some nerf or tweak (stop him from being able to 1-shot, make him more of a meat shield e.g. like in that 1-3-2 experimental), and maybe some interesting buff to Rein, giving him additional knockback resistance so he has 50%, back then when it was that much, Whole Hog couldn’t really move Rein much and he was free to shatter him.

Pretty sure you can could still hook him into a corner and juggle him in ult and the reduced knockback resistance made it easier to deal damage because he couldn’t escape the damage as fast.
It’s way easier to play behind a Rein. Shields are oppressive, idm Hog being strong so he can duel the most broken tank Sigma.
Doesn’t he already do do 85 damage?

you have to be careful of power creep, this happened in ow1 and its why we have ow2 (that and the money grab). the answer is too nerf whats broken, not buff everything else to compensate.
Rein shield completely stops the hook until it’s down. Your team is supposed to kill the hog behind a barrier.
You aren’t meant to completely fully negate hook as well as beat a hog in 1v1 melee tank wars as the 1200-2000 hp defensive tank. Balance isn’t making rock beat scissors AND paper 75% of the time but giving each role strengths and weaknesses.
In this case rein is a massive team shield + melee brawler who can punish close flankies and protect snipers and long ranged dps to kill the hog and shield hooks.
And Hog can maybe right click your shield and hook you (or dps/supports) while the shield is down or throw hook into barrier and whiff while taking rocket fire to the face like a true gentleman.
