Reducing heal stacking actually makes sense

Think about it like this…

●If you healstack its overall healing will be reduced by whatever nerf they put in

●Tanks will get mad at the lack of heals

●Brig and Lucio will switch to Mercy and Ana for the individual heals

●Oh now we dont have enough damage and speed

●Brig and Zarya go DPS

Boom GOATS is dead

Same internal logic as “enforce 2-2-2” making two heroes incompatible to play with one another due to how they function is moronic at best.

Like playing Zarya and Orisa together as Orisa is 5 ft behind a shield and Zarya is too far to do damage and cant get any charge?

Terrible comparison. It would be more like if Orisa has her shield out then Zarya’s shield absorbs less damage.

Limitating comps creativity is dumb, please dont ever let this become a thing

It would need to be only reduced for different heroes, otherwise Moira wouldn’t be able to orb + primary and Brig couldn’t inspire + repair pack as effectively.

This is a very linear and simplistic set of responses, to a very complex multi-layered problem. Reducing AOE heal overall, would cripple many compositions, and only hurt AOE healers.

Moira’s heal is essentially an AOE heal spray. Her ball is an AOE heal ball. Are we talking about Moira too, the hero that is good for many 2:2:2 compositions? Or are we restricting this to Lucio and Brig. What about Mercy too? Zenyatta’s ult?

Something needs to be done to shakeup the meta but this is not the best approach. Once you start limiting the ability for heroes to work together it can lead to a lot of stupid decisions so it’s better to not go down this route.

Just force 2/2/2 already. The creativity talk is dumb. Theres more 2/2/2 variations than any player will ever encounter. You could run a different 2/2/2 set up every single game and not once see a repeat if you care about creativity so much, and those number of possibilities only get exponentially larger with each new hero release. Meanwhile, the thing that does decrease are the number of people willing to play tank. I refuse to tank outside of 2/2/2 (2 tank 2 support minimum, so not necessarily 2/2/2) anymore, not worth the headache. Id rather lose picking a 4th dps and having fun, than maybe win while being a giant punching bag.

It makes no sense to kill heroes because of GOATS. Just because people are abusing the fact that they can stack more than 3 of the same role.

When GOATS is dead you wont be able to run a Brigg and Lucio together. You kill that duo. They should be viable. They shouldnt suffer because of GOATS.

Nerfing heroes to not work in GOATS but ruin them for use outside of goats is the wrong way to go.

Good thing the devs don’t rely on the forums for balance decisions. The game really would be dead then.

Yeah, it seems like people mostly just want to make this weird exception for Lucio + Brigitte that their combined healing aura gets nerfed. Which, as a number of folks have pointed out, it’s not even the stacked healing that’s usually a problem–more often, it’s that Lucio can more-or-less stay on Speed Boost while Brigitte takes care of the aura heals, so he’s not obliged to switch as often. Nerfing heal stacking, even just on that combo, would do relatively little.

When you start making specific exceptions, that’s bad game design. Especially when said specific exception doesn’t really address the root of the issue, and then just makes those affected by it worse outside of the comp.
