I have played 2 games in a row where people either left for more than 2 minutes or left completely, and have lost a lot of SR in the process. It really is discouraging to be told you have to stay in order not to get penalized, but still get penalized when we lose due to having one less person (or a person who was gone for part of the match).
This has been asked hundreds of times. Hundreds of times the same answer has been given. A person could almost copy/paste form letter response these “My team had a leaver why must I suffer?” threads.
Answer: The team has to get a SR loss too because otherwise groups and teams would have a single person deliberately leave just to save the SR of everyone else. And yes people would do that.
No because even if a person left the team, still a loss. I believe they should gain even more SR if they win than they would have got with the other player. If they lose I do believe they should lose less SR because of the leaver but a loss is still a loss.
I had that scenario in my head when I posted this. I am also aware that it is definitely something people would do. What’s to stop a person from making a smurf account to do just that? On the same token, what’s to stop a person from smurfing just to do that to random people?
2 straight years people been asking this. It hasn’t been addressed once. Dev don’t care. 2 years and nothing has changed. Only mods come on here to censor us. They dont care. They only care about cosmetic, SJW nonsense and OWL
And I’ve literally disproven it every single time. You give the SR loss to all group members too. Anyone who wasn’t grouped with the leaver receives 0 SR loss. Wow, that was so difficult.
In case anyone wants to make the SR points pool must stay finite comment: OPTIONAL modifier on this is that you divide the SR loss that was supposed to be received by the losing team across the leaver and any people grouped with him. Randoms again receive no loss.
Here is the official blue post that gives the detailed reasoning for why skill rating adjustments are accounted for leavers. It also explains why non-group members must also take the match result.
Ok so make the SR loss for leaving 100 SR and 1 hour suspention. Then boom the leavers play section is over long enough for you not to encounter them for long time. I have had players leave my match early and be on my team Literally the next match since while I was still playing while his short 10 min suspention was going.
Bump up the leaver penalty to 100 SR and people won’t leave to save their friends. There are MANY things Blizz could try and the try none of them. I guess making worthless arcade modes like Yeti hunter and skins have a higher priority than competitive.
What about in solo queue, there would inevitably be severe harassment by the more toxic players to try and make somebody feel so sh*tty or tilted that they leave. It might not necessarily make people actually leave, but the possible harassment and toxicity would make them feel terrible and isn’t ok.
100sr is completely unfair to your average leaver, who is an innocent person who disconnected without malicious intent. Standard sr loss is ~25 for an average match, so double the loss for leaving and causing your team to lose is fair but anymore is unjust.
That’s not a valid argument. If you’re one of the people who would leave because someone’s being an @$$ then you’re just as bad (if not worse in some respects). The mute features in this game are incredibly intuitive and easy to use. Mute and report toxic players, don’t join them in making things more toxic for everybody by leaving.
It’s a perfectly valid reason considering Blizzard is currently trying to minimise toxicity, not add reasons for it to increase. Muting somebody is always an option but why poke a hole in a bag of water and then put a bandaid on it when you could just not poke the hole in the first place.
Also, I personally wouldn’t leave if somebody was pressuring me but I do have a friend who has a very short fuse and is sensitive to insults. They would likely leave to spare themselves a stroke
Edit: I don’t mean my friend would rage quit a normal game, I mean in the situation their team was losing badly and people started to single her in particular out to harass her into leaving (so they don’t lose sr/have a smaller loss) she might feel so bad that she would do as they say and leave.
It literally decreases toxicity by isolating the source and extinguishing it’s fuel and your empty analogy doesn’t change the facts.
Your friend is a selfish, toxic individual. Rather than mute some jerk on the team, they choose to punish the other 4 innocent people who had nothing to do with this? How incredibly toxic, and I hope they get banned for it someday. You want to get an actual fix for the problem? Mute, report, and ignore them. Takes less effort and everybody wins.
Punish? We’re talking about bullying people into leaving to get less sr for what the team deems a guaranteed loss.
We are talking about the scenario that a team is about to lose, game is going horribly, it’s a complete stomp, and somebody decides to try and pressure somebody into leaving so that the rest of the team get the hypothetical decreased sr loss. This would benefit the team not punish please learn to read.
Also this is completely hypothetical I said if my friend was in the hypothetical situation where people on the team were trying to anything to get her to leave, throwing out insults etc, she is sensitive and would likely leave to get away from the harassment and give into her team. You have completely misread what I mean.
Edit: did you read that this thread is about hypothetically reducing the sr loss for people if somebody on their team leaves??
