With hero bans we don’t need 40 seconds to move into defensive positions. Players can use the time during the ban phase to make sure they are ready to start on time. If they miss the ban phase its no big deal. Everyone already knows where to go most of these maps have already been in the game for years.
Also you could probably reduce the ban phase itself by an additional 5-10 seconds. Everyone who isn’t afk usually only takes a few seconds to choose their bans but then you still have to wait for the afks.
These kind of ez qol fixes you guys never consider because you don’t actually care about the game anymore just the money you make off of it.
Also we don’t need 2 separate phases for preferred heroes and bans just combine them into one ez step.
If you want more suggestions like this you are welcome to hire me I would do a much better job than WyomingMyst or WetWipe. I can probably fix your matchmaker too if you show me the code.

Yep, so much wasted time in this game. We got setup time like we still have a torb that manually builds and upgrade his turret.
And we got a ban phase like its a 30+ min moba game with no hero swaps. Why? You can’t even see what heroes the enemy bans so whole pick phase where your team is putting a comp together is just a waste of time because you wont be able to play it anyway. Its just a I want to play this button, that’s it. So there is no reason to spend that much time on it.
And then the game time is what, 10-20min? So you’re spending more then 10% not playing the game. Then an additional 10-50% in Q not playing the game. Ridiculous.

Yeah, I agree with reducing the time. Perhaps not by that much nor combining both preference and ban (it’s important from a UE design perspective) but definitely reducing each step by a percentage.
Matchmaking isn’t broken though.
It’s a shame you spoilt an otherwise decent suggestion with that plus needlessly attacking the developers and flaming fellow forum members.
Oh, another suggestion would be automatically selecting the hero you preferred when the hero select screen appears. If two people select the same then first come, first served.
If 2 people want to play the same hero, it’s always just going to come down to who loads in the game faster, or who has a lower ping, or who can click the fastest. Whether that is in the ban phase or the setup phase, it doesn’t really matter. They already do set your preferred hero to default but you still have to click ready to lock it in.
At first I thought why do they even let 2 people pick the same preferred hero in the first place. But it actually makes sense because it gives you a chance to show your teammate that you also want to play that hero so maybe they don’t care that much and will play something else.
My suggestion in this case would be to give priority to whichever player has more overall competitive playtime on said hero. This would help out one tricks who can’t play anything else.
its been 9 years, and it couldnt be more clear that the people working at blizzard do not give a single . about your time, and will actively go to lengths to waste it
there is VERY little uptime in this game.
i did an analysis a while back of averages
teamfight only action for about a minute. rest is pressing W or Tab. or waiting on cart.
4 teamfights per game
4 games per hour
theres only a little over 15 minutes of actual play time evry hour. the rest youre forced to sit there or be banned.
imagine if they said you only got a quarter of your paycheck…or a quarter of your dinner…

I dont pick a hero, I don’t hero ban because I’m not a carebear crybaby; I just use the extra time to take a piss or keep browsing. It’s an absolute waste of time and brainded dev team idea to try and appease garbage players. It ruins aspects of the game more than it ever helped. Pathetic.
