Im a full time OW streamer. And im making this post cause no one is talking about this and I really want to start a discussion now that 2-2-2 lock is coming soon. Now to refresh everyones mind about this. Im talking about this change.
Lúcio
- Speed Song: Effect lowered from 30 percent to 20 percent
- Amp it up: Speed song amped effect reduced from 70 percent to 50 percent
- Wall Ride: Passive movement speed gained while wall riding increased from 20 percent to 40 percent
My main goal is that hopefully someone at Blizzard realizes that they are stripping away the main aspect of what makes Lucio fun and hopefully with this make a difference and someone could read this and perhaps change their mind about this.
Lucio is a character that is enjoyable to play not due to his damage or healing output, but rather the fun aspect of Lucio is the ability to be constantly moving and add another layer of difficulty to the support class. Now during GOATS they introduced this nerf due to the fact that GOATS was absolutely destroying every single comp in the game and due to the crazy amount of nerfs to all 6 GOATS characters no solution was ever found. Eventually GOATS became Winston Goats or Goats without Zen etc etc. Lucio and other characters received alot of nerfs mainly to try to kill this comp.
Eventually Blizzard realized that this is a problem that was never gonna get solved hence 2-2-2 Lock was created. Now Blizzard has done this multiple times where they nerf a certain character due to him or her being so strong in a certain meta.
Example: Tracer pulse bomb nerf when Brig was introduced.
and we all know what happened to Tracer after that.
And this right here is the same thing that is happening to Lucio and other characters like Zen or Dva. Just because GOATS was almost unkillable as a comp.
I as a Lucio player, Do no care if Lucio is Meta or Not. I want to play my character because its fun and despite everything its truly enjoyable to play something that isnt just shooting healing to my teammates and calling it quits. I want to play a character that feels fast and that can constantly adapt to scenarios with mechanical skill. But right now its so hard to have fun as Lucio cause you dont get rewarded for being actually good. What it used to be a dynamic character constantly flying feeling like you are free and that no one can stop you. Now what reminds is the shallow of a fun character who at some point was known for being fast and not just a walking healing machine.
Bring Lucio Back to His Glory Days, When he felt fun, when skating around the map and learning ways to move or rollouts would be actually challenging and fun to play. I dont want to play Lucio when he literally feels like you are dragging a Roadhog corpse around the map when you walk in the floor. Even during the Mercy Meta when he was complete trash he was still the same character despite being offmeta and that was perfectly fine.
Please Blizzard, From a Lucio Player and the Entire Lucio Community, bring back the dynamic fast character who could get away from scenarios with movement mechanics, I’ll never leave my character but its so sad to hear people not wanting to play him due to him not being fun anymore."

It’s not a buff, it’s putting the hero back to the state he existed in for 3 years before they released a monster of a character that forced other specific heroes to be nerfed into the ground just because they existed.

Former Lucio OTP (I’ve got over 100 hours on Hog and Ana now. I’m redeeeeeemed) with 666 Hours on Lucio across all modes. I peaked 4241 playing Lucio almost exclusively.
…Eh.
I’ve already adapted. I’d be fine with a revert, but honestly, I feel like it would just give ammunition to the camps that already despise Lucio for being S tier for so long. Because lets face it… Lucio has been playable in every Meta other than S10 Grav/Dragon meta.
He’s still viable now. I’m not sure reverting/buffing him would be healthy for the game.

I really want Lucio to be reverted too, as Moira player I looveeeeeeeeee playing with a Lucio and I can feel the difference, it sucks.
Also lucio players stop using the walls when we leave spawn lol you go faster than us hahaha.

If experience tells me anything… they don’t do hero reverts sadly, so this would have to considered a rework at best, which they aren’t currently doing either it seems (understandably so, given how awful some of the reworks have ended up becoming and/or starting as).
All you can do is hope for a rework at some point in the future, and hope that the rework they have in mind isn’t going to start and/or end up being or feeling worse than the current version of a hero.
I climbed to my career high with lucio, I’m genuinely mid diamond level if im only on him and Zen but after that patch I just got so bored playing him, took the L picked up dps again and went back to high plat to get farmed as a trash DPS player.
I always walk with my teammates, i’m just muttering curses under my breath at the frustration of not going fast, I think lucio attracts all the ADHD types including myself

i gotta agree lucio is rly dumpster tier rn and even worse on PTR because his ult takes sooo long to charge. the only way to really help and charge ult is by being a reddit lucio and even then it takes quite a lot of time

after funnyastro basically camping the top 10 spots with his lucio accounts i think a break from lucio being meta isnt the end of the world.

I think the fact that you have to resort to Mercy 2.0 to come up with a time when he wasn’t must-pick says it all.

Yeah, i can go for zen being reverted as well.
Okay, then let’s also revert Roadhog and Doomfist. After these two we can revert Lucio. Maybe.
Redshell is also on everyone’s avoid list who he didn’t manage to get to add him to their friends list.

knowing redshell’s meme dps playstyle, it’s easy to know why he wants a revert
i’m kind of indifferent because lucio’s still a solid hero but rein/zarya is pretty dependent on speed to function
Currently there’s basically no reason to pick Lucio over Zen unless it’s a specific control map for boops, on PTR Brig will often be a better pick too.
Zen has also been meta for ages now and no one says anything about him, we just want Lucio to be on the same level (and in the process help Rein/Zarya against bunker).
You could pick him because he’s fun and you like playing him. You don’t need to min/max for ladder if you’re not getting countered.
Sadly when you’re in master/GM if you wanna win you gotta play the best character for the situation if you can.
