I’ve read through most of the posts, it’s mostly nonsense.
what we can expect in the near future are some buffs on heroes that will probably break the game in a way or another once again, some nerfs that will gut certain characters and lastly some reworks that will ultimately be a waste of time since it seems that they have truly no clue how their own game works IRL.
Anything regarding tanks, counterswapping or format changes and tests are straightup getting ignored while the gold reaper players get their question answered.

Oh no, you weren’t catered to hard enough. You only had like 6 or seasons of having tanks rule the game, but silly Reaper players wanting to know when they can have their first buff of OW2.
It also does nothing, but state that Reaper got his rework delayed again and that he might get buffs. Knowing their track record, it’ll be entirely useless buffs or no buffs at all because they forgot.

Is reaper the least changed hero in ow2? I think he might be. Good luck reaper players

would you prefer they not do them?

I mean, straight up, so many of the top comments about that were trying to have them talk about tanks, and they ignored those. The only comment about tanks that they answered, they blatantly ignored the question the poster asked (it was really cringey). Like, if they’re going to do them, I think they need to actually answer people’s questions.

Tanks rule the game?
Whether they do or not, it doesn’t feel like you’re ruling the game when you’re playing tank.
I can mainline Junk (near reapers level of bad) and can feel like I’m ruling the game even if I’m losing. In fact I bully the tank so easily as Junk no matter which tank they play. Even Zarya.
I play tank, I feel like I’m doing nothing, even if I’m winning.
Sure Reaper needs some fixes. But the entire tank role needs to be fixed, it’s completely broken. It’s not fun at all. The whole role. Can you say the same for the entire DPS role? No. There are plenty of DPS heroes you can play and have fun whether you win or lose.
So yeah, the tank problem is a much bigger problem than a few DPS heroes being terrible.

I always think something like ‘the feeling’ might be hard to quantify and could be skewed by a bias. For instance, if someone simply dislikes 5v5 on principle because they dislike the concept of solo tanking (for example, I argue that making a ‘boss tank’ in a team game is odd), then perhaps no matter how meta and dominating tanks are in their games, their interpretation of that game experience may likely be perceived as a negative one.
So, even if the results of matches are often favorable and performing well, they may still believe otherwise. They might claim that they are often singled out, being the main target for cc or damage, having to carry or doing the brunt work for the other roles, with the assumption they are doing double duty without another tank player around, or incapable of doing much else just because of the label of tank rather than dps i.e. can’t secure eliminations. And in some games, it might be true, as they are designed in that way.
And this would be despite the real statistics as well. They are often competitive or even leading in the k/d, total damage. Historically overall tank statistics in comparison with the damage role is not that different and can be better (maybe more so for some tanks over others vs particular dps heroes).
In short, regardless of the realities of tank performance, I believe that some player’s perception and preferences on what the role is, what it should do, and expectations, contradicts that reality and they will always feel like it’s bad time. It’s also evolved to almost a sort of meme to accept that as the reality even when it really isn’t.
I also think it depends on when and which tank was meta and the player. Obviously, metas rotate around with balance patches and some DPS or Support heroes ruled the meta. But more often than not I felt that tanks dictated the games just as frequently if not more so than any other role. And you also have players who are just really good. Someone like SuperTF who plays a Sigma or something, is often dominating his matches and getting the most eliminations. But that could also be in large part that he’s really good at the game, and his hero choice, and he knows how to maximize his matchups in his games to get the most out of it. But he might still complain after even if he wins lol
Welp at at least we now they gonna nerf Hig tomorrow so Hog mains gotta climb as hard as they can tonight!
God forbid Reaper not be able to hold w and left click only to get kills for once in his entire existence. Oh nooooo the horror!
This rant here is just more proof that
- Overwatch base can’t be satisfied
- People don’t read or have any understanding of testing before pushing to prod
- No matter what you do, this games nature is the order in chaos, get used to it and turn it to your advantage
Expecting “Balance” in 40 characters with a million possible combinations is just so stupid.
It’s the games nature to have things shift based on changes. It will never get balanced.
Thanks crying about suffering also need to remember, there is 1 tank and 2 dps and 2 support, your roles will always be more critical to the end game scenario.
Just as you suffer playing dva into a zarya and constantly fighting the zarya, supports also suffer watching you while trying to keep you alive.
It’s a circle.
Gotta put the whining aside and expand hero pool, awareness and turn patches to your advantage where you can.

don’t get me wrong It wasn’t ment to ridiculize reaper mains or reaper’s state in the game. It just served as an example.
Reaper being pretty useless is a smaller problem part of a bigger problem which is he didn’t transition well into 5v5. you could argue that there was a kiriko reaper meta at the start of overwatch 2, but outside of a pro play setup, reaper is stilll just very bad. he’s supposed to be played sneaky or proactive with his tank(s) on ladder which he can’t really do anymore. the game is so fast and now requires almost permanent uptime from your dps, plus you can"t rush with your tank if he’s hiding in the corner trying to survive permanently. there’s just better options than reaper. he used to go unnoticed due to more things happening and more players on the battlefield, which is while not being ideal, he had playmaking potential.
reworking or buffing him will most likely end up not really do anything or break him since he’s a low effort, pretty easy to pick up character. can’t wait for that and for him to get nerfed again. Exactly what is happening to hog right now.

Widow, sojourn, ashe, mcree, soldier, pharah all don’t even need to press w. They just need to press left click per your logic

Y’all still wanna advocate that 5v5 is doing wonders for this game or accept reality yet? If the answer is no then I have bad news for you regarding Reaper.
Jeff used to come here and debate with us on their official forums. Now they only cherry pick softball questions on reddit and still don’t answer them properly like a bunch of politicians.

I mean it’s really hard to make reaper worse than he already is.
But if anyone can do it , i would trust blizzard to pull it off.
It’s just a
box activity for them to report.
We engaged community directly it was great
Probably microsoft or nfl boss lady requires it.

TBF is I were Jeff I definitely am not touching the current official forums. Its the playerbase’s fault that stopped them from participating.

The reality is they could never give clear Frank answers, cause the Dev’s are being forced to be community faces and interact while the decisions and controls of many stuff are pay grades above them.
