This is personal, so if you think they are great, no problem. I don’t hate them or anything, it’s just I don’t like how they gaslight in a way that anyone below top500 does not exist or has no valid points. Every time they hear a take that is bronze, they just laugh and mock that person. Seagul once said, “we don’t know how people play this game cuz we are always in top500,” but that never stops them to push their points of view to devs, sometimes even during the interviews or podcasts. Feels like too much elitism.
And no, top500 players don’t know more. They know more about top500 gameplay only. Many tips they give, like mostly speed boosting on lucio, is not working in lower ranks. Like you speed rein with lucio, but he is just shield botting. But they will still “teach” bronzes to play and follow top500 gameplay.
They have no clue how 99% of people play, but act like only their opinion matters. This is why I appreciate KarQ a lot, cuz he will make tier lists for metal ranks too.
Again, this is my opinion and it’s not a hate post, like at all. A lot of times they have good points and they can have good influence on the game. If you think they are great and they are right, it’s your choice. I’m just sharing thoughts.
P.S I mentioned like twice that this is not a hate post, but some people blame me for “hating”, which I find is ridiculous and hilarious. And others are straight up hating, so please don’t use this post to attack or harass them. I don’t like them, generally, but I don’t welcome any of your efforts to mock their looks, or anything else. Criticize their opinions only, please.

I feel this. I get balancing from the top down but top500 is like the top 1% lol

They also play the game.
Balance decisions affect their games more than lower ranks.
They have to right to push for their own balance ideas just like everyone else.
They know how those people play.
They know that they play badly and have fundamental misunderstandings of how things work.

Have you found out about Samito?

Yes but they will openly mock anyone else’s opinions. I don’t like that. I don’t say they can’t have opinions, it’s just they often appear to be elitists.
Heard a lot but didn’t get any chance to check.

That is why top 500 shouldn’t be balancing the game.
They can only see what is happening in their pro bubble.

Even balancing from the top down is a highly questionable decision. Very few people play there. Most people don’t even play comp. The game barely functions as an esport, so why do we even care about balancing the top?
But because we’ve got all these influencers, we’ve got bronze players convinced heroes like Tracer or Widowmaker are the route of all imbalance in their games for some reason, meaning they’re not allowed to be good outside of the hands of a few hundred people.

I have and always will advocate the balancing around a pro scene is a bad idea.
Overwatch back in 2016 was meant for casuals not competitive sweats

And it was probably the most fun the game had to offer.

It really was but fun gets balanced out when it’s annoying or considered “OP”.
Alot of issues are just drama drummed up from people that get annoyed or worked up over nothing.
That’s why Symmetra, Sombra, Mei ect…all got ruined in some form, while they are playable in to some considered “healthier” i will prioritize fun over what people consider healthy in most cases.

It’s even worse then i thought lol
I completely understand the goal of balance but if that comes at the cost of quality no thanks

Its so funny how the forum just picks random CCs and then… what? Argues how bad they are? Have people nothing better to do than to care about the opinion of “Streamer X”?

Indeed, and AFAIK that balance strategy is pretty much unique to OW as far as shooters go.
Every other developer tends to go with trying to make all their gameplay elements fun for the masses, not caring that at very high skill levels a handful of high skill elements become stronger. Like, pros in CSGO don’t complain that shotguns aren’t as good as the scout rifle, or siege players have few issues with shield operators being worse than entry fraggers.
In OW we’ve got the reverse, where basically every tank and every healer is worse than Rein/Ana/Mercy until the t500, because otherwise flats becomes angry about how hard it is to play the starter heroes in the top bracket.

The majority of the player base is in Silver, while the top 3% of the player base is Masters, GM and Top 500. So it’s much worse than you thought.
Balancing around the Top 3% just makes the game worse for everyone else.

Wrong, they have mastered the game on ladder where you play with strangers.
The only group of people your logic applies to is OWL players, we should never consider OWL balance because they DO NOT play with strangers and can coordinate with no loss of autonomy.

Couldn’t agree more. I see a lot of people give seagul more slack than Flats but honestly he’s just as bad, just not quite as blunt as Flats.

Where are you getting this from? Because that may have been the case during OW1 but there are so many boosted Diamond/Master players who were Gold or below less than 2 seasons ago and do not belong in high elo.
I’d say most players are honestly now in Plat.
