This sounds pretty fair, although I would rather see only 3 or 4 storm arrows, or they can’t headshot but still have 5.
Removing HS is pretty dumb as it makes the ability a detriment to the Hanzo as his primary is more lethal.
Hanzo can do 700 dmg to a tank with only storm arrow headshots. Plus he can do 240 extra dmg if he fires a normal arrow that headshots before using storm arrow (940 dmg).
Storm arrow is just way too strong, and is also spammable.
Edit: It’s 470 dmg without headshots.
If he can hit headshots, if he can’t storm arrow without headshots would do more damage
I thought like 60 BS dmg and 2.5 HS multiplier.
That keeps his 2 shot on a squishy with BS+ HS intact, but removes kills with triple bodyshot (punishes not aimed spam) and barrier brake is reduced as well.
So lets see.
47 bodyshot damage instead of 70 damage with a 3x headshot multiplier, with 235+125=360 barrier damage.
I’d only really go for 2.5x if it also applied to his normal arrows.
No HS on storm would mean in 1 second
How about 2.5x headshot on StormArrow, no changes to normal arrow.
However remove the animation cancel from shooting a normal arrow into StormArrow.
(i.e. There has to be an arrow in the bow, to use StormArrow)
My idea:
Hanzo
Storm Bow
Now only deals 80 damage (full charge).
New Passive Ability
Storm Bow deals 50% more damage to enemy heroes (and B.O.B). Headshot multiplier is calculated after these 50% are added.
Storm Arrows
Damage increased from 70 to 125
Ammo reduced from 5 to 3.
Rate of fire reduced from 1 shot every 0.3 seconds to 1 shot every 0.85 seconds.
Duration increased from 5 to 6 seconds.
Lunge
Cooldown increased from 5 to 6 seconds.
The point is to reduce the BS dmg. The animation cancel is situational and doesnt help the Hanzo even that much as primary BS plus storm BS doesnt kill a squishy anyways.
Orrrr just reduce the bodyshot damage but maintain the crit damage (i.e. reduce to 50 damage per body, but have a 2.8x crit mod)… you know, reward the precision hero for precision shooting, but weaken his ability to just spam bodyshots for the quick kill?
Removing precision incentive from a precision-based hero isn’t good design IMO
It allows him to followup a normal arrow almost instantly, instead of taking 0.5sec.
That’s the difference between a Reaper shotgun, and a Roadhog secondary shotgun.
Two approaches.

Reduce his damage by 30%, and replace his Storm Arrow with a Hunter’s Prey ability that works like a personal discord ability, doing the following:
If you’re still getting 1 shot by Hanzo, it’s because he has mark you and intentionally aim for you, so you can’t complain it’s all luck base since without being mark, he can’t 1-shot you in the head.
While he is marking you, he is also taking more damage too. If he still manage to kill you with that double edge ability, I don’t know what more I can say but git gud.
Yeah, it’s such a dumb idea. Hm, Hanzo is already a good sniper, we gave him good utility, even his primary is great against shields, his ult is good. Let’s give a good sniper/allrounder a shotgun! Yes, great idea!
Yes but it only makes for 195 dmg and he burns a cooldown which might be more useful if he has someone diving on him.
You know what, 2.5x sounds reasonable.
Might need more, but I also might have too extreme of an opinion on it.
Ran the numbers, and in raw bodyshot DPS it would be slightly less than what Soldier can do with fullauto bodyshots.
So probably good enough.
It’s still 405 barrier damage, but yeah, still better than 475 barrier damage I guess.
I never liked how he kept Storm Arrow after being stunned.
If you nerf it to 60 BS dmg like i suggested its 5 times 60 = 300 dmg total.
