widow can just delete a 200HP hero , so broken dude , this game sucks , plz nerf
Reaper is considered to take less mechanical skill due to the limitation of his playstyle + abilities , its too linear , you do damage and you wraith when you are about to die . Not to mention he sucks
Well compared to those heroes he has no cool techniques beside walk up and shoot, wraith when you are about to die, press Q to use a mini transcendence. That’s literally his game plan so thats mainly the reason people consider him easy.
The changes made him really skilless , before he had to really consider his plan. Now it’s just guns forward and shoot, don’t even really need to headshot and this is in the uranked aka QP mode. I don’t go near comp play so this is how it is here.
It’s clear to me that the game isn’t going to be balanced around unranked , it would be a bad move yet we still have to deal with him.
Reaper has a low skill floor, walk up to things, move around, shot at tanks large hit box, get healed, press the panic button when low on health etc. But to get the most he has a lot, honestly I suck at Reaper and can never get much mileage out of him. He has a pretty decent skill ceiling, and very good tracking and able to flank well, use his horrible ability to sneak around.
Another major thing reaper has to do is how to get around and bait out his weaknesses, flash bang, shield bash, etc. Quick temporary invincibility can bait out these things, then counter back and take out foes. Many times have I seen McCree waste his flashbang and get deleted. And there are reapers that suck at playing around Winstons bubble. Every hero has different skill requirements and everyone is different. Just the 50% restore makes reaper have a strong effect for low effort when he can just feed on a tank, and not die. Requires much more teamwork around his wraith to counter him, and at Low ELO a reaper who knows how to bait out flashbangs can team kill. Much like the Brig Crisis last year, low ELO cannot work around a hero who’s weakness is coordination. Main reason why I fear Baptiste is because of coordination. Sorry for the little tangent.
The changes also fixed one of his core issues which was maintaining himself in a fight against bubbles, nades, etc.
Also, his lifesteal increase in no way shape or form made him able to go in aggressively without any plan. If you don’t have a plan, you’re going to get your opponent bubbled, you’re gonna get slept, you’re gonna get flashbanged, you’re gonna get hooked, stunned, etc.
In fairness, he is a one star difficulty hero… that being said, every character takes some skill despite the fact the aim crowd would try to make you think otherwise. About 25% of the OW playerbase would summarily delete Torb/Sym/Reaper/Moira/Brig/Rein/Bastion/Mercy if they thought they could get away with it.
To be fair all these heroes have some other playstyle to be effective.
The main problem that Reaper playstyle is repetitive and lackluster, his kit lack of synergy with each other, most game sense lies in dropping from sky and shooting the bigger enemy.
I don’t think he is a “no skill” But he has incredibly low skill celling.
Tracer is also a 2 star hero yet almost everyone agrees she is by far one of the most difficult heroes in the game if not more difficult than most of the “3 stars”.
Has numerous rough matchups that force him to have a plan of action before committing super hard to team fights unlike a Tracer who has the survivability and the escape routes to stay alive longer.
Not to mention trying to flank is a challenge he in and of itself if not more difficult than Tracer.
Also, timing wraith form against some of Reaper’s counters like McCree are what make him require a lot of skillful approaches that you probably wouldn’t find in heroes like Genji or Tracer who already have escape moves and outplay potential that are super straight forward.
