We either get good shotguns but fight stun spam and double shield.
Or we get bad shotguns and have to fight stronger tanks.

Would be a lot better to balance him if he had a secondary fire, with that the developers can balance other part of his kit, like a “half-rework”

You are absolutely right. Reaper got destroyed in ow2. He was finally doing good but they acted like he needed a nerf for some reason. Finally reaper was a viable competitive hero and after like 2 weeks of owl playing him in a couple of games they made him unplayable again. Junker queen and hog do more dmg than reaper. All three have similar weapons but the one who should be doing to most dmg out of them isnt… Why is that? reaper doesnt have 400+ hp and a shout bp buff so why is he risking a lot more by going in close but cant even be given the dmg of a tank. Lets worry about 5 mercy super jump reworks tho. Spend time on that pointless project no one will ever be happy with…

i always find it funny how the go to tank buster hero is often replaced by other dps that can do his job a lot better, despite them having different roles.

Reaper needs to be looked at as more of an alternative to Tracer and Genji balance wise IMO, if that means reducing his spread, giving him a new ability for more options maybe, and giving him the movement speed passive then so be it.
I feel like the classification as a “tank buster” has held back how the developers view him balance wise, he needs to be looked at how he preforms against squishes and can he effectively back line and that is bad as of beta 2.

The reason for using Reaper is because you want objective presence. S76 and Widow are lethal, but if they have to turn a corner and have 5-10m to a tank in their face they are backing the hell up.
You flush a tank form cover slowly with ranged DPS while melee DPS like Mei/Reaper are going to hard flush them out. Unless you go a hero can’t be hit and you ignore terrain like Genji, Tracer, Sombra, Pharah, and Echo. Even then those characters won’t contest objective long.

Well it’s hard to balance a frontline tank buster with a Flankers kit.
Pick one and then we can balance it.

Oh it isnt hard at all, they just wont do it.
As you can see, they are willing to create NEW skills and yet, Reaper doesnt have an RMB that can give him range or his TP is still the worst skill in game.
I get it. I know they dont want to mess with the TP anymore but at least give him some range with the RMB, like a charged shot (Sym Orb style) or “Drain pellets” that are a very tight shotgun shot that doesnt headshot but increases lifesteal etc.

Just literally give him Roadhog RMB. Both are shotguns, there you go.
You can even play with the range of Reaper’s.
But they just wont do anything.
