Ok, I’m gonna say it here and now:
Reaper’s shadowstep needs to go. I knoe that it covers a lot of ground, but it can only be used on Defense and is completely useless on attack. Not to mention it’s insanely loud and leaves you completely vulnerable. You have literally no way to use it if the enemy team is aware of you.
So I’d like to bring up a different ability that he can use with less vulnerabilities.
This ability will be called smokescreen.
Smokescreen is a unique CC ability that causes any enemy within a 5 meter radius to go temporarily blind in a black smoke. Only Reaper and his teammates can see through it.
Once they exit the 5 meter radius, they can see again, but the ability lasts 4 seconds.
This will provide a new cc concept that hasn’t been used before and leaves your enemy completely vulnerable to attacks.
It has a cooldown of 12 seconds that starts once the ability is over.
It cannot be cancelled, and he can attack in this, but if he is stunned, the ability ends.

Nice concept but shadowstep is preety useful if used carefully. It could use a buff or two but removing it is a bad idea.

I like that idea, it addresses his range weakness, because enemies cant see him coming, so he can get into close range. Sounds awesome!
Perhaps to keep his vertical mobility, allow wraith form to fly for the duration? I’m fairly sure he does that in one of the animated shorts.
Very unfun to play against.
Steel Trap victims can still shoot.
Graviton doesn’t prevent all mobility.
Earth Shatter can be blocked.
Sleep Dart can be avoided, and 1 point of damage undoes it.
Hack victims can still run and gun.
With this as a debuff, enemies will not be able to fire back. All they could do is fire aimlessly into the void before getting 2 or 3 shot by Reaper. It needs some sort of counterplay. How about…
Enemies enveloped in darkness cannot see more than 3 meters in any direction, but can see enemies within 5 meters (especially Reaper). Exiting the smoke for any reason due to movement, end of ability duration, or killing Reaper will restore vision to full clarity over .75 seconds in a cloudy fade away of the smoke.
This ability can be used in conjunction with Fade, allowing Reaper to blind opponents from long range fire.
Opponents within 5 feet of Reaper do not have outlines, but can cast silhouettes as if they were behind walls. Silhouettes fade in and out over .75 seconds as the enemies hustle in and out of Reaper’s vape cloud.
Reaper is likewise affected by his cloud, but it is much more transparent for him. Silhouette rules apply for him but 3 meter sight does not. Instead, thin tufts of smoke fill his screen, partially obscuring his field of view as the bottom half of the player’s screen edges darken.
Can be toggled on and off. When toggled on, Reaper takes 1 damage per 5.5 meters he travels while also not Fading. Automatically locks to off when below a quarter of normal hit points.
Movement speed increased by 20% while Smoke Screen is active. Stacks with Fade.
Wow I’m off topic. I’ll stop while I’m ahead
I don’t think Shadow Step needs buffs.
It just needs reworked. Keep the same base idea of getting to sneaky positions to set up for flanks, but actually make it useful.

Well, there’s a few things that I agree and disagree with this.
First, most movement abilities can get out of even the 5 meter radius. 3 meters is simply too small and would require someone to be right next to him to do it. And even that wouldn’t work either
Seeing Reaper or his teammates within a five meter radius defeats the purpose of the attack. I want this to be treated like a hack. It blocks one’s line of sight and makes them open for attack. If Reaper is stunned or damaged in any way, the ability is cancelled, but you still get blurry vision for another second.
Not to mention it has a long cooldown.
I don’t want his Wraith form to be used in this either. This is simply to blindside nearby enemies and pull a blind kill.
Reinhardt, Brigitte, and Hammond can see through the smokescreen when they’re in 3rd person.
i think reaper still needs shadowstep but it could use a couple buffs. i have a story to tell. when i was playing as d.va against a reaper, he kept on going in wraith form and shadowsteping. ._.
