Reaper damage too low or something else?

This isn’t a concern about him getting kills, I and many others can get the kills with him much easier than in OW1. He just feels like he doesn’t do enough dps on the scoreboard. It could just be an issue of range changes coupled with his damage reduction they gave at launch, but I am really feeling it the worst when it comes to tanks that are now just sponges in many cases. I am disregarding the spam damage counting towards kills as I feel that would be seen across the board regardless of dps hero selection.

This isn’t just a me problem as im seeing it when others play him where he gets high kills but seems to have less dps than the tank and the other dps on the team. Again, this isn’t a buff him or nerf him post. Just something seems very strange considering his net effect in matches. Is he just very effective using/needing lower damage to cinch kills in the fight or is there something else going on?

Reaper played well is all about damage-to-kill efficiency. Basically, you aren’t putting out insane amount of sustained damage like Solider, because most often you want to be dealing closer to 200 damage before securing a kill, because when you choose a target, you want to eliminate them quickly. If you play reaper like a flank anyway.

So, where soldier may constantly poke the same hero for hundreds of health over time, reaper can get in and try and finish them quickly for just near their 200 health.

That’s what I’ve observed whilst playing a ton of reaper.

If you find yourself with decent kills, but less damage, that’s likely why.

I can see where you’re coming from. The lesser amount of dps does make sense though considering his overall damage has been nerfed from OW1, and there is one less tank on the enemy team to farm. As long as you are getting kills, I don’t think it matters much, as at least for me he feels better to play in OW2 due to the lower amount of hard CC.

I’ve seen games where Reaper utterly dominated. He’s not necessarily getting the highest overall damage, because he doesn’t poke, he just kills.

I play reaper both as flank and as a brawler (I.e tank pusher along side the team’s tank), but that makes sense for both playstyles.

All high damage means is that you can’t secure kills, high Elims and low deaths are the gold standard. Damage is just a number that pads out context.

Im a Reaper main and he had a nerf of anything but in the end it wasnt enough for me cause im a yet again Reaper main. So its not the damage you lack but the intent to KiILLlL…
