Really tired of dying to dva bombs

When im clearly behind a wall dude…
Maybe fix that in ow 2.

Oddly enough, I don’t mind it too much. There are waay more annoying abilities and ultimates in this game than a d.va bomb. Only problem is that her ultimate contributes to the game becoming an ult-stacking simulator. But that’s not really D.va’s fault, but just every hero having too strong of an ultimate.

With 2CP gone though in OW2, dying to ultimates should become less infuriating. Because it won’t cost you the game as much.

Well, even if you are mostly behind cover, being slightly in the LoS of a DVA bomb will get you.

Stop using walls and use lamp posts!! They always stop my d.va bombs!!

It does feel really inconsistent, which does seem like a problem.

Sometimes you stand behind a lightpost that only blocks like a couple inches and live. Other times one pixel of your character extends beyond a wall and you get exploded.

I’d be fine with them picking one or the other, but both is a problem. You should be able to know if you’re safe or if you’re still exposed, not have to guess.

I hope they remove ults and just make a third normal ability…

Blizz went to the soulsborne school of wall detection

I unironically have a better track record with lamp posts than enclosed rooms…

I’ve had this happen on mercy more times than I can count. Pixel of my wing is sticking out from behind a wall. But my own dva bombs get denied by a skinny lamppost or crouching behind payload where the bomb is still plainly visible.

If you guys noticed the sound effect of the D.Va bomb goes silent by like a second before it explodes.
My rule of thumb is if you’re behind cover BEFORE the sfx goes silent you’re safe, otherwise you get deleted.

The d.va bomb as intelligence test that separates the average players from the bad ones.

Just be mindful of your giant hitbox (every single hero’s hitbox looks like the Michelin Man) and duck well behind that wall when you do use it for cover.

Also: every single hero in the roster has a way to counter, shield, or escape D.Va bomb. Why are you even dying to them at all?

Doesn’t matter if you hide behind a wall because bomb registers with hitbox involve. You’re hitbox sticks out you still get hit apparently

there is some funny natural cover sometimes. usually i squat next to the payload or maybe a hover car on some maps and it saves me somehow… i guess its like angles and your hitbox or something

As a dva main, the inconsistency comes from the way LOS is calculated. It is not an AOE LOS, as a nuke SHOULD BE. It is an LOS from the pixel at dead center. If any part of you has LOS on that center, you die. If your entire body is in LOS of the bomb, but the lamp post blocks that single center pixel, you live.

It’s dumb. Just make it so that ANY LOS kills you, period.

Meanwhile, when I play as D.va I have to struggle to get any kills with her Self-Destruct Sequence because it seems as though a single blade of grass provides sufficient cover against the blast.
Seriously, narrow objects block the blast more reliably than a solid wall does under most circumstances.

Another thing I don’t understand is that while launching MEKA into the air then activating Self-Destruct Sequence used to be a fantastic way to catch the enemy team off-guard and get a lot of kills, now it doesn’t work at all against anything but a Phara/Mercy duo because apparently the blast is just a flat wave rather than a dome, so if it’s above the enemy team when it detonates, then it deals no damage to them, or so it would seem based on my observations.

I guess the grass is always greener in somebody else’s yard…

It is a sphere, you just need to count one second before detonating. Otherwise it will be too high up, and there is damage falloff the further from the center of the blast they are.

Have you ever tried to avoid a DVA bomb on console? It’s so darn hard if you have a low sens lol

However, you could also block all of the explosion damage with a pixel-width pole if it blocks LoS

I’m willing to bet that everytime you thought you were around the wall when the bomb went off you still had a sliver of yourself showing at a crazy angle.

I think it’s more of an issue of how much damage the bomb does as opposed to whether or not you were hit. If only a sliver of your body is showing you shouldnt die to the bomb. You should still take damage but not die.
