Really? Pharah changes?

I’m not wholly opposed to Pharah receiving some much needed tweaks to her kit as it’s been what? 1-2 years since she was touched at all? But it seems a little alarming to me that they’re doing this when there are still many other problems persisting right now.

Namely Symmetra’s long list of inconsistencies and bugs as well as other heroes suffering from similar issues that hinder them.

I’m not opposed to Pharah receiving some love and changes but please Blizzard can you also at least tell us that you’re absolutely working on fixing bugs and inconsistencies and that they’ll be pushed out soon because it’s getting depressing playing the game with seemingly broken heroes :slightly_frowning_face:

I get the Symmetra has her issues but a lot of heroes do and she’s gotten a lot of dev attention in the past. Now is a good time to help Pharah, she’s a Brigitte counter.

she is a SOFT counter at best, and she’s one of those characters with no natural hard counter. Just like mei, whom also has no natural hard counter.

So much for Paper Scissors shotgun eh?

Symmetra should be able to counter Brigitte with her primary but she can’t because

A. Its damage is halved against armor, even at level 3 charge due to it dealing 20 ticks of damage per second and

B. It has a maximum range of 12 meters; with perfect spacing Brigitte can and always will close the gap on you as Symmetra and kill you since Shield Bash covers an absurd 6 meters and her ridiculous melee swing range is another 6 meters

Symmetra could help be a counter to Brigitte due to making her personal shield work against her but Blizzard has been extremely cautious with rolling out “DPS” Symmetra and I can understand why but they’ve really achieved nothing here and aside from those glaring issues it isn’t just that holding her back it’s a lot of other much worse bugs and inconsistencies such as Photon Projector getting caught corners through doorways and Teleporter being destroyed instantly just because you placed it somewhere where it’s barely touching something it’s not supposed to? Thus forcing its full cooldown again

There’s more but I mean hey I should just make a separate post for Symmetra’s existing bugs and problems to really bring light to those issues.

Again I don’t mind Pharah receiving changes and I would love to see her more as a counter to Brigitte but, why can’t Blizzard do that as well as give us news that they’re working on helping other heroes with the basic necessities?

It feels like they’re leaving Symmetra to die and shrivel up as a broken, incomplete hero and there are plenty of other heroes with similar inconsistencies and bugs that need addressing.

If she gets a rework I would be so excited if they gave her an ability that similar to this battleborn character, named Benedict, called hawkeye LOL

How is Pharah only a soft counter when she literally cannot be touched by a Brigitte? Lol

The same way being able to reach a target a whopping 12 meters away by burning your primary cooldown without stunning anything is “absurd” and “ridiculous,” apparently.

I literally can’t take this seriously.

She JUST GOT EF’ING BUFFED FFS. No one can counter Brig, Symmetra doesn’t need anything else, what symmetra needs is a god damn Brig nerf.

Not unusual when Brigitte can do so to burst down and delete Symmetra and gain free ult charge lol

Pharah is not used a lot in high ranks, she’s only used in lower ranks. Because her soft counters at GM do not miss… i.e. MCCree, S76, Widow, Ana.

Pharah can’t do anything at high rank to brig.

It’s literally because of skill gaps that people think Pharah is a counter to Brig.

Most of that however, is because Brig needs a nerf. If brig gets the nerf she needs, then Pharah would be a hard counter, but not until then.

I see her counter Brig in high level streams and in OWL and pro play…where coordination and mechanical aim are at their peak.

I’m not saying it’s like the hardest counter in the game. But it’s not a soft counter IMO. And Pharah is getting…something, soon.

[edit] Lost me at Brig needs a nerf. Lul.

She had a ~12% pick rate in OWL.

One level above the lowest pick rates in OWL.

You want to know what the highest pick rate characters are?

  1. Mercy (94.76%)
  2. D.Va (88.37%)
  3. Winston (78.44%)
  4. Zenyatta (76.97%)
  5. Tracer (67.48%)

And when Brig enters OWL… Tracer is gone, Gengoo also gone.

And all it takes is a mccree and S76 and Pharah will not be anymore useful than she has always been at high rank.

D.Va.

Considering she was never NOT picked. While there were other heroes like Brig who were not picked every map/gam

[edit] oof. I was so close lol.

What are the stats for after Brig was introduced? Because I recall seeing Genji even when the opposing team had Brig.

At lower ranks, that is diamond and lower, she’s very strong, and that’s probably why she hasn’t been buffed or nerfed.

Because Blizzard is thinking, things level out at higher ranks.

But that still leaves about 90% of the game being man handled by her.

Whether or not Pharah is or isn’t chosen doesn’t make her not a hard counter to Brigitte.

Pharah basically denies Brigitte out of hand because she (should be) is always out of Brigitte’s range, yet is capable of circumventing Brigitte’s shield and can boop her away from teammates, making Brigitte’s life very difficult or even outright impossible to effectively do her job. Brigitte’s options for dealing with Pharah are basically 1) back off, or 2) die. She must have a teammate to deal with Pharah. That’s about as hard counter as you can get.

True as that may be, a good team will counter pharah, even if it’s a soft counter, and then she’s useless.

Which is why we’re getting Pharah changes

Which is why she doesn’t need a buff, because at high rank things level out, and it’s only lower ranks who are effected most by her.

So do we get to buff Sombra since that same playerbase demographic can’t make her viable?

That’s wrong on so many levels.

Brig can’t burst Symmetra. Period. Her combo is 155, and Sym has 200 HP. She needs at least 2 additional melee attacks.

But if Brig burned her Shield Bash to get within 6m of Symmetra, then she doesn’t have it to use for her combo for another 7 seconds, which drops her combo to 105 damage.

But the strongest part of that combo is Whip Shot, which she can’t use on Symmetra until she’s down to 70 HP or less, or all she’s done is push Sym back out of her own range and given Sym control of the fight again, so now we’re down to just 35 damage from her primary fire.

This means that in the scenario you’re laying out, once Brigitte has burned her Bash to get within melee reach of Sym, she now has to melee Sym 4 times to get her low enough to kill her with Whip Shot, which with a swing speed of .6, means she has to wail on Symmetra for 2.4 seconds between burning her Bash and using her Whip Shot.

That’s about 3 seconds total for Brigitte to take down Symmetra, even using all her cooldowns. That’s not burst.
