Real talk here.. how to we balance tracer

Before you say “lul but shes in a bad spot”

I get it i get it shes among the lowest of pickrates

But that is not because of her beeing weak, its because shes just not useful in Goats

I reciently played a match where this tracer absolutely stomped us and no joke, our comp literally was

Brigitte - Moira - roadhog - Reinahrt - Sombra - mccree

And we STILL could not kill the enemy tracer,

Sure thats more a testament to that players skill, or the fact that we are trash at the game

But come on! 6 counters vs 1 hero and she STILL can dominate, this just reaches to a point of ridiculousness

This heros outplay potential needs to be limited by SOMETHING, like

Hard counters are a bad thing but when ylu have6 counters in one team and the hero they still can perform well thats just ridiculous

You cant just make a hero whos only real counter is headshots…that is just ridiculous

Even if you disagree with everything i said, imagine a hypotetical situation where tracer needs a nerf

What do you nerf of that hero without making her trash? Because shes in such a flimsy spot that you touch somethimg and everything collapses,

I dont want the hero to be trash, i just want to have a hero that is so damn powerful (albeit with lots of practice, but still) that she can stomp a team of 6 of her counters?

It’s the pistols. Those are the part you can touch without breaking the flow of the whole kit. Give them like -1 damage per bullet or whatever else.

I am not a tracer player and may not know what I am talking about but would reducing her blink count to 2 be a viable option to address her?

Would that really change it that much though?

Its not really limiting her outplay potential, thats just making her do less damage

That would betoo much

It would give her targets more breathing room to deal with her by making her less instantly lethal.

Harsher damage falloff on the pistols. Make Tracer have to take riskier positioning in order to be able to chew through HP at the astonishing rate she does.

Increase her bullet spread.Rn it’s a meek 3.6°

She does 120dps body. That’s 240 while firing and 0 while reloading. She fires 40 bullets. So they do 6 damage each I guess.

A 1 damage per bullet nerf is pretty rough. Her dps drops to 200 while firing or 100 sustained. To one clip without headshots becomes impossible and landing a one clip is already pretty rare and difficult.

If she had to be nerfed I might make the delay between blinks just a tiny bit longer. I think it would heavily impact people’s ability to kill her without gutting her entirely. Maybe it’d just kill her at high level tho idk.

unless you play in master or gm she kind of isnt all that…

but if you play in master or gm you will get people that knows how to deal with her otherwise they wouldnt be there in the first place

This is the option I’ve always advocated for.

The greatest strength of a good Tracer is that she can just stand outside a McCree’s Flashbang range, or a Brig’s Shieldbash range and still be pretty darn lethal.

Reducing her fall-off from 11-30 meters to 8-20 would make her have far more emphasis on high-risk, high reward.

Nothing to brag about, but my alt managed to get top20 tracers and I’ve gotten some counters for her.

If you’re facing problems with her in the current meta, they know how to manipulate her kit to the fullest, even in a meta defining around tanks. She is most notably countered by Brigitte for being out of position, but this is not going to change even after the brig nerfs.

She needs to be baited, not like a fish to come in, but like with her blinks. The most important thing is to also keep track of her blinks and know in how much time they will regen after use. This allows you get 1 shot on her. Usually though, tracers panic when this happens and go places with their blinks.

In summary, to kill whatever tracer, you need to mind-game and know her kit to an extent that you know the cooldowns and use of her kit.

The 2 blinks is an awful idea, but making the 3 blinks into a longer cooldown wouldn’t hurt both sides. Usually, this would need Tracer players to be smart with their blinks. I want something addressed though, her rewind: Her rewind doesn’t always have the cast-time that it should have. Sometimes, it doesn’t even activate on click.

No. If someone is good enough, they deserve to outplay the enemy. The difference comes when it becomes too easy to outplay them. Tracer requires SO much mechanical skill, it’s not as easy as people think.

-A not Tracer main. (Check my profile if you don’t believe me.)

Brig/Cree are the only real counters you got there…
Sombra too, if they’re not trash.

not sure how a melee tank and an ult battery count as a counter though, or Moira for that matter.

Seems more like a l2p issue if you think Rein and hog counter Tracer though.

Someone made a thread a couple days ago explaining how Tracer is a tanky glass cannon. Tanky not in health (although recall helps), but tanky because the mobility is extreme. I have to agree with that claim/notion.

It’s absolutely sad to think that the only thing that could stop her was a hero (Brig) that was so strong in CC that it defined/created an entire new meta (Goats) for the game.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I just hope the devs realize the balancing issue when it comes to Tracer.

Rein no, but a good Hog can yes.

I mean rein can block her shots hammer her and his armor cuts her damage in half

Hog if he gets the hook is a free tracer kill

Blink behind them ,shoot ,wait for them to turn around ,blink behind them again, shoot, wait for them to turn around , REPEAT
This method allows her to do damage while giving her blinks some time to restore.

I highly doubt she 1v6’d you. If you think so then you have a case of the “forum hero” that is going around. Just because you counter something doesn’t mean you should instantly win. This is overwatch, not rock, paper, scissors. Counterplay is the name of the game. Picking a ‘counter’ should give you a decent chance at outplaying the hero, but not make it a guaranteed stomp.
