He currently DOES NOT work. Mostly coming down to his health pool verse his hurt box size (he’s huge).
Now for me as a Bastion main and character fan, I think we need to acknowledge and make him good! Treat this form as a give idea’s to the OW devs they do great work but have clearly hit a road block when it comes to Bastion. So this will aid them.
Now personally for me I would not mind a sever nerf to DPS for more health and re-roled as a Tank class. and not just because “haha he’s literally a tank”
These are my basic thoughts:
- Health pool from 200+100 armor to 1 + 399 armor
Yeah that’s right I’m boosting him with 100 extra hp but also making all his health armor!
- Damage reduced by 35%
This will bring his max DPS from 425 to 275, still alot for a tank
- Turret mode infinite ammo, Starts super accurate and spreads by alot over time while firing
Takes afew seconds to “cooldown” and return to normal spread

Iron Clad removed replaces with Self Repair
This previously use ability now actives immediately and automatically when not firing (does heal through damage)
- Self Repair resource meter removed
- Self Repair Heal reduced from 75 hps to 30 hps
- Ability 2 replaced with: (honestly I’m not sure…)
Overall he’s suppose to be a scary machine from a war nearly lost. Not a so easy to kill broken bot.

This sounds a little strange. What’s the point of infinite ammo if you’re decentivised from shooting for long periods of time? Why not keep it how it is now, he starts inaccurate but the spread tightens the longer you hold m1.
I like the idea of Bastion as a tank. He would need some heavy adjustments, but I’m actually quite fond of the idea.

Hate to say it but it doesn’t make sense to me. Bastion is a turret and turrets are made for damage/DPS. If Bastion became a tank, it doesn’t make sense to keep his turret as he would need to sacrifice something to gain armor/HP to absorb the damage. And what makes him different to using D.Va as she has infinite ammo already?

I like this except for the infinite ammo part with the spread changes because then Bastions would just pepper forever like a 76 on roids. It would need some overheat mechanic or worse spread than 76 or not limitless ammo. Otherwise, I think this would cement him as a fair Orisa partner besides Roadhog or Sigma.
ive wanted this (same with doom also)
but i would prob make his turret mode mobile and like storm arrow (time bar) (so like tank mode speed (kinda slow)
and i would make his gun slow firing (prob same timing as zarya right click) with alot of umph and recoil since tanks with long range isnt a thing and would be good prob.
and he would get a gundam skin. im basically making him a gundam mech type thing.
and the armour stuff u suggested would prob need to be reduced a lot.
All 250 hp heroes should be turned into tanks tbh, damage toned down, abilites and passives changed, hitboxes and model size readjusted as well.
I dont understand how this makes him a tank. All you really did was increase his HP and nerf his damage, he still can’t create space

You could have him start with a low rate of fire which gets faster as he spins, like the Heavy in TF2.

Eh. Don’t think I’d like him much as a tank. I think he should be designed as a bunkering DPS hero, but not as he is now.
I think it’d be better if they put a time limit on Sentry. Infinite ammo, but only let him go blitz-crazy for six seconds before he’s back in Recon for a while. Give him back his barrier as a cooldown ability, and perhaps replace his ultimate with something a little more focused on busting up enemy pushes (i.e. give it a little barrier overpenetration). He becomes a very hold-focused DPS hero then who is actually decent at his job, but who isn’t being gated behind a single ability.
That would work as well and encourage Bastions to get up and move around in close encounters.

I think Bastion is already kind close to a tank because of the huge area denial of his barrier shredding turret. If I were to make Bastion a tank, I would intruduce blind spots to said area denial/damage output so Bastion teams would be easier to approach, but I would buff Recon mode so its less vulnerable and more of a legitimate option in a fight.
You need to encourage breaks so the enemy can counter, but not enforce it with a overheat mechanic

Considering Bastion makes it suicidal to walk into his sightline I’d say that makes him deny more space than Roadhog
You could argue Widow does the same, but Bastion actually has more utility since he can shield break better than the Hog too.
