Re: Hero Pools - restrictions on player choice have gotten out of control

He did use language implying it could work differently between OWL and live, but maybe in extreme cases they could pick two tanks instead for a week?

That’s also the point with hero pools lol, to improve and learn new tactics AND adapt.

I assume we are going to be told in advance since it’s weekly. If people can’t play those heroes they just don’t have to q

And after all of these changes, I find OW way more fun today than it was 2-3 years ago. I’m excited to test it out.

I don’t really see an issue with that to be honest.

if 2 tanks are forcing a certain meta, and other ones are interchangeable banning the 2 tanks would force a different comp.

I see no issue personally

i think it would be a better idea if they had a different hero pool for each rank

My answer: overreaction is out of control.

And with more balance updates coming out more frequently, it’s less likely for those extreme cases to last long after they’re banned. It could really work out well.

agreed. I see hero pools as a genius solution to be honest

I don’t know yet! To counter your argument, what if they don’t suck? Did you ever consider that?

The fact that some people are so upset about this change makes me look forward to it more.

Next there will just be a pool of six heroes enabled every season. What an amazing “balanced” game that will be.

You weren’t supposed to?

LMAO. No, this is not even close to true. In other, properly balanced video games, there are many viable characters and compositions.

Wow, Overwatch players are so Stockholm Syndromed into this game that they think having zero balance is normal.

you know what else is in those games?

ill give you a hint. it rhymes with bero hans

or youre too dense to see the very games you refrense have almost the exact same solution.

Uhh, no. Try watching more than Overwatch and LoL. Street Fighter tournaments frequently feature “meta” characters getting destroyed by “low-tier” characters. Starcraft tournaments frequently feature “meta” builds getting destroyed by unknown/new builds.

The problem of one team composition utterly, unshakingly dominating everything else, whole swathes of heroes being 100% unviable throw picks, and all of this getting so bad that heroes end up having to be disabled by the developers is an Overwatch problem. Lots of games don’t have these issues because they are balanced competently.

Good. This is desperately needed. Any form of PUGs I’ve played have been significantly better than ranked. Ranked can go and die for all I care. Even tryhard QP is better than ranked.

you realize that street fighter tournaments do infact ban fighters if deemed an issue by the community? as does every fighting game

as someone whos participated in many of them id know.

never played it, but is starcraft even hero based?

Maybe local garbage tournaments. This doesn’t happen in top-tier tournaments like Evo, Capcom Cup, etc. “Low tier” characters frequently destroy in those tournaments. Never would happen in Overwatch.

Its 1 support, 1 Tank and 2 DPS out of the most popular characters every week.
