I have noticed we’re getting a number of people claiming to have been falsely banned for cheat software recently.
They claim innocence, and those people should be having their tickets properly reviewed by CS, but one thing I have noticed is that they all claim to be running Razer Synape for RGB lighting.
Please note that any software function that creates and runs macros will likely be flagged as cheat software by Blizzard. Even if those macros only control lighting.
There also seems to be a current issue which has been allowing cheat software to bypass anti-cheat by exploiting the vulnerabilities within the Razer Synapse Drivers (I’m not posting specifics on what I found because I don’t want to give anyone any bad ideas.)
If this is the case then Blizzard can’t put synapse on any kind of ‘whitelist’ for the anticheat, because it has a known vulnerability. Which leaves it up to Razer to fix it.
Obviously this is affecting players, and the vulnerability is likely to get patched at some point. But what should players do about it in the meantime? Should players running synapse uninstall it?
Razer Synapse has 200 million users. If there was any kind of massive banwave happening just from running Synapse you would see a lot more outcry then a random Reddit post every six months. The more likely thing thats happened is people were using the macro functionality, which is against the TOS of just about every single multiplayer game in existencs, getting banned and then going “Im completely innocent”.
I was thinking more of the software running the hardware, but I think I know which one you mean. I saw videos of that in action, crazy stuff, no wonder there were complaints about it.
This is a good point. I try to err on the side of neutrality when it comes to people claiming to have been falsely banned (after all I can’t prove either way.) However, it does seem strange that this hasn’t been a more widely reported issue if it is Razer’s fault.
i have had razer synapse forever with no problem unless their is a new feature that i dont know about?
i mean i never use it really, all i do is make my razer software a solid green (mouse and keyboard). i always loved razer products. atm tho i dont have a razer headset… have a cheap Onn headset lol
my keyboard is a black widow and my mouse is a razer viper mini
honestly i wouldn’t be surprised if action was taken because of that, many developers have said that they think its cheating so they’d take action against it. (again, not surprised, since it puts the player at a clear advantage lol)
there is always the ability to create macros with razer synapse. i tried it a bit with mercy super jump back in the day to make it easier. thing is they made it easier themselves later lol…
never got banned for that but i never played mercy much anyways.
i think maybe there is a thing to make strafing better tho, forgot what it was called
Best way to get Chroma RGB lighting is through Aurora and OpenRGB. Not only do you avoid Razer’s software altogether, you can use just about any RGB keyboard with it. I have a Logitech keyboard that I use with it.
Hello, I was banned a month ago, and I’m pretty sure it was due to a mass report because I often got messages in game chat about cheating. The day before my ban, there were several of those in qp. I noticed the Razer mention only recently and started creating posts on those topics as well, because I own a mouse and a pad Razer Firefly V2 Pro with RGB lighting. Because who knows.
I am seeing a lot of this being used now in games and even made a post awhile back asking the devs if this was something they were going to ban people over or not.
Considering the amount of people I am seeing using this now, is impressive. Im going to guess they consider it a form of Dodge scripting because of how incredibly fast characters "shake " and strafe now.
As a hit scan player I hate the whole Snap tap thing. because it does make critical hits worse. So I am going to guess this is why blizzard is banning Razer users. Since supposedly I think from what I heard they have this now available to all razer keyboard users with the firmware.

Glassbrick. - (commonly used as a cheat in Hunt showdown, and other games where long distance matters).
I didn’t ask for your advice, sir. You probably have no idea what the presumption of innocence means. I have never used macros in my life or even in WoW. I have good aim, so I don’t need anything other than my mouse and keyboard.
Glad I don’t run anything like that. RGB is kinda overrated anyway. Better to keep that on its own system though, like through a phone app, not through your computer.
If synapse is in fact the issue, it’s probably more like some specific configuration on their end, such as setting up macros and maybe not being aware.
But there’s also just the possibility that these people are actual cheaters and just looking at recent ban posts and using the same excuse to sound legitimate. It wouldn’t be that hard to just look over some recent “I’ve been falsy banned” posts and see people mention synapse and say “Oh hey i use that too, that must be it!” – In fact it’s actually kind of sus to me that some of the recent posts were always so oddly specific to mention that – “Hello everyone, I was falsely banned. I have literally nothing installed on my computer (except razer synapse, of course), so I’m clueless as to why.”
I created a topic about my ban two weeks ago and didn’t mention Razer until today, when I met someone who mentioned Synapse, so I guessed it might be the reason. Just in case, I asked another person who was banned if they had anything from Razer, and they said they didn’t. So, that’s why I said I’m not sure if it could be the cause of the recent bans, but it seems suspicious to me. Still, I think my real reason for the ban was mass reports, because that’s what always happened to me and it finally worked out.
When I said this was a huge possibility 2 weeks ago because people in other games like Valorant have been complaining about getting banned for cheating lately and all of them use Synapse as well, someone on this forum jumped down my throat about it, “I’m crazy” and a liar lmao
