Ranting about double shield because why not?

As a Reinhardt main, I was not allowed to press pin ever. I would get rocked, or orisa would just stand in front of me with gold form. I couldn’t approach with shield because I was always slower with me shield up dealing zero damage then they were with there’s doing upwards of 400 DPS with headshots, and a solid 200+ to my shield in orisa’s case.

And I can’t use fire strike because kinetic grasp is on like the same cooldown.

I can’t swing because I am not close to them. And even if they make a mistake and let me get close to them, I deal 40 damage to the gold form orisa who again can 400+DPS me if she has the aim. Doesn’t matter if it’s a projectile at face hugging range. Also my team won’t be doing any damage to her because infinite shields also I can’t get healed because the shields are in the way.

There was nothing my character could do against that comp when played correctly. And I don’t care what high elo people think it was not so hard that “the meta was only relevant at the highest level” it very much was. When every other tank gets blown up for the tiniest mistake why not play the 2 tanks that can actually live while also providing more spam down main?

ALSO I haven’t even mentioned frickin bap dealing AOE healing undoing every bit of tickle damage I find and also throwing a 7th player onto the field that I have to kill before I can kill anyone else.
AND he’s another hitscan spamming down main.

Or the fact that I get boop by brig every 4 seconds. Or pulled by orisa every 4 seconds.

And let’s not forget about DPS. Mei just freezing anyone that walks past the double shield so you aren’t allowed to swing? Have to block every other second and hold it a little bit of I freeze. Or doom fist knocking me around like a bowling pin. Or Cassidy just spamming at you and throwing flash bang over or under your shield. Or just junk spam to add to all the damage down main while you also need to find the trap hiding behind the rainbow off bullets rocketing down the choke.

Except guess who didn’t have trouble with all this? Orisa sigma. They can kill you from far away so boops don’t matter as much. Orisa has gold form to deal with doom and Mei and any Cassidy brave enough to walk past her shield. Sigma can eat flash and rock doomfist on his engage.

They were completely busted, but also the only tanks that didn’t have to fear the DPS powercrept from goats era. The only tanks that didn’t risk dying Everytime immortality field denied them a kill. The only tanks that really didn’t care what brig was doing.

It was so bad it was SO bad.

But also,
Tank synergy wasn’t the problem.
You just had 2 OP tanks, and an immortal backline. And DPS powercrept to deal with a brig that was never properly nerfed even post 222.

The game was a little fun when no one went orisa sigma, but then we were just blowing up and struggling to kill things because, say it with me now, IMMORTAL BACKLINES, AND POWERCREPT DPS.

no wonder you call dps powercreept if you started during goats where dps might as well was locked out from beeing played.

Brig was the hero that made DPS useless. It’s not like anything else was buffed in that era. They kept buffing DPS damage and utility to try and kill goats when brig was still able to just shut down any dive.

Goats was a support problem. Orisa sigma was busted in double shield but the problem was still that an undivable backline was sustaining them permanently.

DPS has to be buffed across the board just because of brig. And they never addressed that properly.
