Oh? That genuinely surprises me, but I’m certainly not disappointed.
Hardly anyone would have known who he was until this incident. You can’t say the same about Hitler. The fact that you’re trying to compare the two is…insane, frankly, and doesn’t help your argument in the least.
It’s not an “incident”, it’s a lawsuit for sexual harassment.
This “frat boy” culture was seen in male employees drinking “copious amounts of alcohol” as they made their way through cubicles to often “engage in inappropriate behavior toward female employees.”
One particular incident cited in the lawsuit involves a female employee, who was already subjected to intense sexual harassment at the company, committing suicide during a work trip with a male supervisor who allegedly brought inappropriate, sexual items with him on their trip.
A source who has since departed Blizzard told IGNanother story about how the room designated for breastfeeding didn’t have locks.
“Men would walk into the breastfeeding room. There was no way to lock the door. They would just stare and I would have to scream at them to leave,” The source said. IGN understands locks have since been added.
There is a reason Jesse Mccree, Luis Barriga, and Jonathan LeCraft were fired from Blizzard.
And there is a reason they want to remove mentions of those guys in their games.
Honestly the most disheartening/dishonoring part about the entire situation is that the drumming on the forums had an actual impact on their decision towards this, when those topics were filled with a variety of active users saying how horrible of an idea it is to try to erase the 6 years of built around the character and the community and that nobody really agrees with it, which was then brushed off and instead they listened to the same dozen users on their alt accounts and with their discord friends spam dramabaiting circle-topics. I honestly feel so discouraged and dishonored by this altogether (not to mention the massive resource and time wasting that goes into this that could’ve been spent to actually improve the game that is now considered concrete wasteful harm) that I’ll probably quit any public community activity regarding any of their platforms, games, products, communities and so on, because they can’t get anything right anymore and are off the deep end so far that there’s apparently no coming back even when the company itself is in legit danger
It’s a big shame that all of this has to escalate this way
I always think they just can change to JOHN McCree.
Don’t need to redo all cinematics for OW2 that increase more delay.
JUST DON’T CHANGE HIS FAMILY NAME NOT FULL.
IDK. I don’t like it, but I think they should rename him Joel Custard.
Joel after his voice actor and Custard after General Custard from back in the wild west days. I’m from Wyoming and we all know the story of general Custard there.
Or maybe Joel Whitney. Edward A.Whitney , for whom the park is named, established Sheridan Wyoming’s first bank in the building. Whitney resided in living quarters above the cabin for a significant portion of his life. This cabin still exists in a park known as Whitney Commons. He was a very good man.
Why do you think that takes long? Just get voice actors to record the lines again calling him “Jimmy” or whatever literally over Skype or other Discord. As for those “pages”, just open up any text editor and search for “McCree” to replace it.
And why are you even surprised? His noose spray got removed too cause players were putting it on those big-head “cute” sprays. I’m just more impressed they thought people wouldn’t be doing combos like that.
I said nothing of the sort. So therefore not banworthy. I alluded to others doing. Totally different.
YOU are the one who drew that conclusion. Therefore, not my words. Read into it what you will. The fact of the matter is I never said I would do it. But others might.
I think this is the point people are trying to make to you. The idea of “I didn’t know who he was” is inconsiderate considering his actions. Just because you don’t know who he is doesn’t mean the Overwatch team doesn’t. While you have no reason to care, the people who work on the game do and I don’t need any more convincing than that.
Nice work trying to avoid addressing your initial terrible argument. I don’t recall making any sort of claim that those men didn’t do anything egregious…
If that’s what you’re taking away from this, I don’t know what to tell you.
You do realize that no one knew about Cosby being a sexual predator in that room right? Like perhaps his co-workers or some Hollywood insiders might have an inclination but back in 2014 it was not public knowledge. You are fooled too easily. It was just a bad coincidence. Think about it with just a hint of common sense - Do you think there was even a chance any normal person would walk into a room with a framed portrait of Cosby in it and not immediately ask why its not taken down… How many people you know that still have Aaron Hernandez posters? Sexual predators don’t tend to advertise that they are sexual predators especially not at work related activities.
That being said… to the masses of people calling Jesse McCree a terrible person… lemme know 1 detail you know about him… I’m not saying he’s not I’m saying I don’t know enough because for any rational person someone being fired for association does not mean they are a terrible person - He may very well be but most likely, he had nothing to do with it, it’s just because people think ‘oh he’s in the Cosby suite’ and IIRC the way things are supposed to work in America is we don’t condemn people until they have a chance to defend themselves… all we know is he was fired and he was in a phone text group about people going to hang out in a room that would have a bad connotation to it now certainly- but didn’t back then. Something like he probably didn’t advance complaints about Sexual Harassment proactively enough is more probable- but we just don’t know however this doesn’t necessarily make him a terrible person it just makes him terrible management.
