Ranking the OW2 collabs

From worst to best:

  • Gentle Monster - was just 2 recolors of a D.va skin but they gave her glasses. Weird but easy to ignore
  • One Punch Man - If you aren’t familiar with the source material these skins are just goofy. Doom is decent, but genji’s face looks horrible and the other 2 are partial recolors
  • Cowboy Bebop - I don’t know how, but Cassidy’s hair was so bad that it lowered this entire collab down multiple spots. Mauga and Sombra are just decent. What saves it is Ashe being great and the little musical chime all the skins play on kills is sick
  • Diablo 4 - The gamemode for this was cool and a good fit for halloween, but it got repetitive pretty fast despite the ability variety. Moira and Rein skins were pretty solid. Wasn’t too exciting though since there’s already so much blizzard crossover stuff in the game.
  • Transformers - Optimus Primehardt is arguably the best collab skin, bumblebee bastion is pretty good too. The other two I think could’ve used a bit more work. The voice filters on the skins actually sound pretty cool, which is a rarity for overwatch. Just feel like there was a lot more potential with this IP
  • Porsche - It was a small collab but both skins were great and had some of the best SFX changes of any OW skins. I also think they fit in better than most crossovers since you could take all the porsche specific branding away and they’d still work as just car skins (the d.va highlight intro is a bit egregious on the branding though)
  • LE SSERAFIM - They put way more effort into this than any of the others, reminded me of an OW1 event. Like everything from the menus to the arcade mode to the cutscene before the mode to the busan redecoration to the music video cinematic were all high quality. We finally got some skins of the heroes in casual clothing which people have been wanting for a long time. Only complaint is that this was the event where they decided to start putting 0 effort into the free skin
