Ranking is Ridiculously BROKEN!

No matter how much better you get at this game you are incredibly likely to stay stuck at whatever elo you’re in. To prove this theory I went ahead and purchased another copy of Overwatch and played it with my eyes closed for 10 placements in season 8 and got placed at 1678. During season 9 however I played my best heroes and tried my best… had over 13k dmg per 10min with tracer won all my placements but this account got placed at 1667. By winning and trying to play I actually managed to get placed lower than when I wasn’t trying. Well, carrying previous season weight for the rest of Overwatch lifetime will have to be something everyone will have to get used to. No matter how much better u get, you are very likely to stay around the same SR, unless you win a significant amount of games compared to your loses. I m not saying I am good at the game, but the placement system definitely NEEDS HUGE ADJUSTMENTS.

Matchmaking sites such as tinder and eharmony actually benefit from matching you with the wrong people. Because if they matched you with the “right” people you wouldn’t need to use their product therefore creating less revenue for them

Also maybe you playing when you play with your eyes closed you are better than when you don’t?

It’s all random. The whole hidden MMR trickery they do allows for a HUGE range of actual skill at any given SR. The hidden MMR balances out that range to try an accomplish even teams. If you are really good, the system expects you to carry. If you don’t you fall.

So why the hidden MMR? Because a simple, organic SR with an actual scoreboard for competitive mode would drive away the casual players. There’s a reason Overwatch has 30 million subscribers (really a lot of alts gaming the system, but I digress…). The cheesy medal system and the hidden MMR system makes sure that the casual gamers picking Sym on attack have fun at the expense of serious competitive players.

Whenever the SR system debate comes up, the question that always comes to mind for me is “why is the MMR/SR system so complicated and opaque?”

I’m of the opinion that ranking systems should be simple, straightforward, and primarily driven by natural selection. Put a bunch of people as close together in SR as possible, and whoever wins gains rank. Get rid of all of the under the hood voodoo that the system does for some reason and give us a system where we know we have to take responsibility for our own gameplay and win more games to climb.

was testing the SR system to see how it adjusted. sinced blizzard said it will catch on players that are inmproving

That doesn’t help with the fact that you were STUCK IN SILVER WHEN YOUR A F*CKING DIAMOND SMURF.

I feel like if the Ranking system in overwacth was like in hearthstone the game would be A LOT BETTER!!!

I went from 1800 to over 3150 SR in a mere 3 seasons, a good 95% of it was solo que…

My only issue there is, if you are a casual player play Quick Play or arcade. There is a reason why Competitive is called competitive or is it a misleading titled game mode?

if it matched people with equaly skilled groups against other equaly skilled groups more often, it wouldnt be a bell curve, it would be a flat plane.

In Overwatch, it’s misleading. Competitive without a scoreboard isn’t competitive. We have the feel-good medal system that casuals can hide behind and not have their feelings hurt or get trolled. Hence, we have a “competitive mode” filled with gold-gun seekers.

How is boosting possible then? If the system will just “force” you to stay at a rank"

It’s handicapping by Match Making Rating that causes this type of career pattern.

If you’re diamond, you should easily be able to carry out of silver. It’s actually insane. I’ve played games in that elo, and if you aren’t playing on a controller, and you’ve been diamond before, I’d be surprised if you even lost a match.

It’s funny when you all are trolled by the OP who says he’s in silver when his profile literally shows you that he’s in Diamond.
