Ranked System is broken

The ranking system in Overwatch 2 has been a source of frustration and disappointment for many players. While the introduction of new hero roles and the ability to choose a role before entering a match are positive changes, the new ranking system has failed to live up to the expectations of the community.

One of the main issues with the ranking system is that it is too confusing and difficult to understand. In the previous SR system, players were ranked based on their skill level and would move up or down the ladder based on their performance in matches. The new ranking system, on the other hand, uses a complex system of stars and tiers to determine a player’s skill level, which is difficult to grasp and leaves many players feeling lost and unsure of how to improve.

Another problem with the ranking system is that it is not transparent or fair. Many players have reported feeling like their rank does not accurately reflect their skill level, and there are numerous instances of players being ranked higher or lower than they feel they deserve. This lack of transparency and fairness can be demoralizing for players who are working hard to improve and climb the ranks.

In addition, the ranking system in Overwatch 2 has not been well received because it does not reward players for their individual performance. In the SR system, players were able to see how they were contributing to their team and were motivated to work hard in order to improve their own skills. The new ranking system, however, places more emphasis on the team’s performance as a whole, which can lead to players feeling like their efforts are not being recognized.

Given these issues, it is clear that the ranking system in Overwatch 2 is trash and needs to be improved. One solution would be to bring back the SR system, which was widely regarded as a more fair and transparent way of ranking players. Alternatively, the developers could consider revising the current ranking system to address the problems that have been identified and make it more player-friendly.

Overall, it is important for the ranking system in Overwatch 2 to be fair, transparent, and rewarding for individual players. By addressing the issues with the current system and making improvements, the developers can create a more enjoyable and satisfying experience for the Overwatch community.

I completely agree. Everything you have said has described the only frustration I have with the game. It’s almost unplayable sometimes; makes it feel like I’m completely wasting my time. It’s disheartening when you spend a few hours of time you may have out of the week to try and rank up, only to stay the exact same rank. I’m not bad at the game. I’m not great either, but I definitely did more than enough to get out of Bronze 5.

My first time trying DPS for a while, I win 7 games while having the most kills about 5 of 7 of those games. My KD around 35/5 to 35/10, and damage around 15k. That’s not the best, but it definitely doesn’t deserve getting ranked Bronze 5 for the 2nd time in a row.

I’m just bored of being punished for winning tbh. You can be plat 4, win against plat 3/plat 2, and now suddenly you’re against master, why? Why is the forced 50% winrate so blatant? Is it intentional or a massive flaw with how they’ve designed matchmaking?

Many people stay the same rank, even bronze, for 20 or 30 seasons, or never get out. It can be disheartening to stay that rank for these first 2 seasons, but it’s still a small sample size. We’re all also either new players or getting used to the changes to OW2, whether it was the tank synergy we were used to or even that your hero was fully reworked.

I would suggest joining r/OverwatchUniversity on Reddit and sharing a replay code or two. There are coaches and content creators who will do VOD reviews from time to time based on posts there, or tons and tons of people who have input to offer.

I sympathize with feeling stuck in a rank and dealing with this matchmaker. I don’t even check ranks. I check my team’s comp, I check that I can hear my teammates and I check who’s in chat.

The difference is in OW1 we had SR, so even if you remained say gold 1 for months on end, it didn’t actually feel like that. In 7 wins you could dip down and climb back up, or break into plat and then fall back down.

In OW2 it’s just G1 G1 G1 G1… It feels stale and boring. a waste of time even playing. Removing your visible rank from your real skill level and deranking everyone isn’t the solution either. All that does is make the entire thing feel rigged and fake.

I guess, I just don’t feel it personally because I’m the same rank I’ve been the last 15 seasons (which I’m satisfied with and feel like I probably deserve)

I won against a top 500 tank as tank, but apparently that wasn’t good enough to rank out of plat 4. Didn’t even get carried either, my stats were actually better than theirs. I didn’t realize until after the match otherwise I probably woulda locked in Orisa and hope my team has some top 500 dps to carry me.

The rank system is complete dog poop in OW2. You just get queued with dogwater players at water rank the game thinks you are and you’ll never get out as a solo because of it. No point in playing this game, but hey at least the board of directors is happy and the skins are selling

Won 5 games in a row, 1 loss, silver 4 - no rank up. 3 out of 6 games top dps, play of the game, multiple multikills, but its just not enough. I solved it easily with uninstalling, not worth my time.
