Hello everyone,
I’ve been playing overwatch since 2017 (actually I stopped for 2,5 years when the orisa + sigma meta was introduced) and I’ve never been more confused as to why the game’s rank system and career profile page is so bad.
Don’t get me wrong, I think OW2 is a MAJOR improvement to OW1, the game feels smoother, more fun to play and less tilting (at least for me). Hero changes feel awesome, specially with the Sombra nerfs coming to play.
However, I find it absurd that I have no clue of my current rank or my teammates’ rank. The game has always been competitive and should remain competitive. I need to feel the gains and the loses after every single match, I need to know who is strong or weak in my team or the enemy team and, most importantly, I need to know as much info as I can about my gameplay and my teammates’. Let me elaborate:
-
Rank System: I recently climbed up to platinum 1 as DPS (I used to be around 3200-3300 before I stopped playing) and I was happy to be re-learning the game quickly. Then, after the next set of 7 wins, I get a message that I was promoted to platinum 3. I’m like wtf, then I realize that I must have hit the 20 loss/draw point without even realizing, dropping my rank below plat 3. My point it, the ranked system as it is, is so bad that I don’t even feel ok when I win a game. We want the SR gains to be visible, that’s the best incentive to play ranked and be competitive.
-
Hidden Ranks: What is the point? To me it looks like Blizzard is trying to cover up their matchmaking being messed up by hiding from us the rank of our teammates or the enemy’s. Matches feel one-sided most of the times (9/10 I’d say) and I have no clue who to play around or who to trust in-game to follow-through.
Also, I’d like to say that I COMPLETELY disagree with hidden career profiles. I need to know if my Mercy is a one-trick, or if my Ana has ever played the hero before to trust her with correct usage of nano boost (in order to play around that).
OW is a competitive game, don’t try to make it ‘butthurt friendly’, if people are afraid to show their accomplishments what is even the point of playing the game? -
Career Profile: The very first versions of career profile page were the best. Nobody can argue with that. Currently when I open my career profile, I can’t understand nothing. I don’t know what I’ve played most on which season or what my stats for competitive/quick play are for a specific hero. It’s all very confusing and it should be as simple as it gets to the eye. Bring back the old Career Profile ASAP!
On another note, please GUT Sombra, nobody likes getting hacked 3-4 times in a single fight
