Random FPS drops since update(s) --> from 170 to 20 (to 170)

I don’t work at Blizzard. But I’m on the latest drivers and not experiencing the stuttering, so it’s likely some other interference issue.

After experimenting a bit more, I noticed that I do not get huge sudden FPS drops when I let my fans blow maximum on my MSI gs66 stealth laptop.
I do not have thermal issues if I don’t do this, so perhaps it is just to trick the system… Anyhow, I play at 200 fps with 58 degrees celcius now lol

Hello, I have a similar issue. Video and audio are stuttering every once in a while when playing. Can you check as well?

I ve got a laptop Predator Helios 300 geforce 1050ti 16gb ram I5 8300H

There are some crashes from the audio driver, which will also cause game stutters. You can try reinstalling it by going to your motherboard site and getting the version needed. Sometimes manually checking for Windows updates can help resolve this, as well. If you don’t have luck with that, check for overheating (or just skip to this step) – it’s quite common on that CPU.

unfortunately this was not addressesed in the recent patch

any update on your issue ?

Still occurring. Maybe the next patch will fix it, already talked to my support with the generic dxdiag, msinfo, etc. Game was working fine two patches ago. /shrug

same here.

Some things I tried out in the meantime:

  • reinstall OW / repair
  • downgraded drivers
  • changed Fans / settings Graphics / afterbuner

Nothing helped

have you tried restarting your graphics card? that could solve it. you just need to do this,

press Win + Ctrl + Shift + B on your keyboard at the same time. you’ll hear a beep and your screen will go black for a mili second and go back to normal

yes, I did. I even removed the card as such, cleaned it and put it back in and restarted once more

folks, a new windows 10 update came out today, i would suggest checking it out.

it seems my overwatch issues has disappeared. hope that helps.

(by issues i mean FPS drops that I never had, similar to many other people that posted here).

thanks

Been Playing fine for the last year as well. I keep a very clean isolated system. Since last patch I have noticed frames dropped from 138 (vsync/gsync) at 2560x1440 144hz to 40-50fps with the exact same settings. 3d GPU at 100% now. Running an i7-9750, 16gb ram, 1tb m.2 drive, 1660ti video card.

(40yo, been using computers since DOS 3.2, 2400bps modems on BBS’s, A+ certs, some MSCE’s)
