I’ve started to randomly get fps drops. I get around 75-80 fps and then goes to 1 fps then up to 30 and then back to 75-80 fps. It’s really annoying and I have updated the drivers and re installed them too.
Do you close the battlenet app or leave it running?
Clicking X on it (or setting that it closes automatically) might help, because it automatically plays gifs and videos, which can cause such FPS spikes.
It closes automatically
Only if you set it in settings, it stays open normally.
Do you have any programms in hogging your PC in the background?
Check your processes and startup, maybe something is just using too much RAM in the background and the game lags when it fills up.
normally I only have msi afterburner on because overclock
Are you using google chrome? I noticed when I have too many tabs opened in it, it makes OW drop frames randomly.
Maybe you installed smth recently and it automatically installed some other crap together with it?
It’s worth checking.
Yeah, chrome eats a ton of RAM.
One of many reasons I stopped using it after years of being a chrome fanboy xd
These come and go for different people with different patches. I used to have terrible frame drops after Doomfist went live and a couple months later they just disappeared (now they’re kinda back but I think it’s just that the Meltdown patch gimped my older i5). There’s probably nothing you can do about them but wait.
I use chrome. But I close it when I play
I find that if you have more than one monitor hooked up then you need to be sure you have everything closed out on the spares just about. Your web browser, FACEBOOK, adult video sites, just about everything that loads anything. This has started happening to me about a month ago and I have a pretty nice rig.
I guess you probably did all those things but a little reminder never hurts :
Clean the dust, your GPU might be full of it and you don’t even know it
Update your drivers
Lower all the settings in game
I have a second monitor. But I don’t use it while playing
I used to be able to watch youtube and play the game at a stable 60 last year.
Now, after the game has been updated many times, any “movement”, even a tiniest little gif on my other monitor will slow the game down to 20-30fps.
Also, the game is running much worse in general than it used to last year.
I know the feeling. I could play on epic and 60+ and now I’m on high and some low and like 3 ultra settings and I get 75-80 and framedrops
The game automatically set it’s settings to med-high when I first installed it (my PC is quite old), and it ran at stable 60. I set it all to low when I got a bit more serious about playing it, as I do with any FPS.
Now it’s struggling to reach 60 on certain maps like Dorado, despite playing on much lower settings than I used to.
yeah
20 characters boi
I can completely relate. Something that I found to help is deleting people off your friends list. I wouldn’t do it if you actually play with them all but someone gave me that advice and attributed it to the way battlenet shows who is ingame, online, in the app, or offline. They said it helped for them and fixed the issue. This however doesn’t work for me as I run a gaming community and play with a lot of other people regularly. If anyone tries this let me know you finding plz.
I only have 7 people on my friends list, and it’s been a while since more than 4 were online at the same time. It’s usually 2ppl on mobile, and one online/in game.
I also tried playing with BNet app off, it made no difference.
check if there are any background processes
it sounds like something is taking up your power which makes you lag
