Random disconnects as of two patches ago

I’ll be in a game and I get the “connection lost, reconnecting” screen. Then it throws me back into the game exactly where I was (usually dead because my character doesn’t despawn). It’s so incredibly frustrating and I haven’t been able to play comp for weeks because of it (I haven’t even bothered trying because I don’t want to screw my teammates over).

I’ve been penalized on quickplay a few times because sometimes it can’t reconnect, and it counts as me leaving. It will even happen during menus sometimes.

I’ve been playing since OW1 launch and never had this problem. It just popped up around two patches ago. I don’t have this problem with any other online game.

I’ve tried everything listed here and the problem persist. Blizzard Support - Overwatch 2 Disconnection Problems

You’d be grateful that they have finally implemented reconnection feature. Previously you would simply disconnect forever and get punished for leaving the match although it was usually the server’s fault.

We are, however, experiencing a slightly different but similar problem where we got placed in the wrong server which resulted in constant high ping, packet loss and connection loss: High ping in recent games - Technical Support - Overwatch Forums (blizzard.com). This issue has been there for over a month, and it is still unresolved.

Just a little update:

if in your chat box at anytime you see:

There was an issue retrieving your currency balance. Please quit an relaunch the Overwatch client and try again.

That means you’re going to lag and disconnect constantly. Usually you’ll already know this, because the error appears when a match is finished and you’re going back to the menus.

If you restart the client until you don’t get that error, then the random disconnects and latency spikes won’t happen.

This leads me to believe that some of the servers we connect to when launching/starting a match aren’t behaving properly. I don’t think this is on the user end, as restarting should eventually fix it.

I don’t see that message but still having the issue. It is obviously an issue on the server side, but I don’t see any effort or announcement indicating they are aware of, actively solving or even care about this problem.
