Random Disconnecting mid game

As of the last 2 updates I’ve seen multiple issues where my game instantly disconnects mid game, goes to loading screen, connects again and then bugs out with the social tab. it’s gotten to the point where is I now even get suspended for QP matches cause I just get disconnected that often.

the social tab doesn’t work until a full game restart.
I don’t see any packet loss on my end, not do other internet related applications stop functioning (discord, yt/browser/streams, Spotify) everything works fine besides Overwatch

This issue is still going on & players getting kicked mid game

You could try changing your MTU which worked for me after trying for about half a year.
Here’s how i did it

Not a bad suggestion if your network has trouble with the larger packets.

I just had a disconnect right before round 2 started, no idea the root cause. it immediately tried to reconnect and it took longer than usual. when I went to rejoin it said YOU ARE SUSPENDED with a two minute timer, without cause. it’s the second time I got a suspension without reason recently… very frustrating on principle alone, I haven’t done anything wrong.

also, Nicole is right. she isn’t saying not to do it. but if you have a good network you shouldn’t have to.

oh, and when I went to search this forum for the message to see what people were saying, the forum search returned the error "You’ve performed this action too many times, please try again later.’ :man_facepalming:

Unfortunately, suspensions are applied after you leave too many games. Disconnecting counts as leaving.

yeah, and its a server issue? how is it our fault?

those issues have been going on for seasons and there is no response nor any fix pushed by blizzard to fix this disconnection issues

this is an issue at their end not the user’s, we should NOT have to adjust any network settings to “fix” an issue that is beyond our control

If it’s not the end of a match and you can try to rejoin it when reconnecting, then the server didn’t go offline. If the server goes offline, it will remove all players from the match because it won’t exist anymore.

If changing your MTU stops disconnections, then I’d say that’s the definition of within your control — and it is working for some players like Anakan above.

This issue just started happening to me randomly last night and haven’t been able to resolve it in the last 12 hours. So far I’ve tried the following:
Uninstall and reinstall battle.net, OW2
Change MTU
Scan and repaired after deleting settings

My internet is completely fine. No problem streaming movies on multiple computers etc. The game works completely fine until I try to join any thing even practice range. Just get stuck in an endless cycle of disconnecting and reconnecting. ALmost makes it impossible to exit the game without force quitting lol. wtf happened

Yup, but to be fair if you are confident you checked absolutely every possible fix and it still dont work for you, and you are entirely sure your internet is not losing connection, you should really try changing the MTU, for me even when i set up something to analyze my internet 24/7 it showed absolutely no problems (600/100Mb plan, fiber if you are curious) and only thing that worked is the MTU.
And to be honest i also think there should be a thread about this somewhere saying that in rare cases this could help.

We’re already in the thread that says those things, but I’m guessing you meant a pinned thread.

A lot of players won’t be comfortable or want to change the MTU on their system — even if it can completely solve a disconnection issue — as seen above in the replies.

Oh yeah i meant pinned my bad.

Yeah you’re right
