New PC, rocking a 5800X3D and a 7800 XT.
Played OW for a bit, then ran into 2 crashes back to back. Everything is updated, drivers, windows, steam, everything. I crashed a third time today while trying to experiment what causes the crash but wasn’t able to deduce anything.
I’m having the exact same problem. I’m using the 7800 xt with the 5600x and I get random game crashes now. Did you previously use an nvidia gpu?
Same here with 6800xt. It was fine for a long time but it started happening like two days ago, how old is your new pc?
Im also having the same issue, It happened a few months ago but then stopped, all of a sudden the last 2 days its happening every second match on both mine and partners PCs. Hers is a brand new build we built last week, Ryzen 5 5600x and 6800xt 16GB DDR4, mine is almost a year old running ryzen 9 7900x and 7800xt 32GB DDR5. Seems its an AMD GPU issue from this thread? im replacing my MoBo and GPU soon so i can update how things go then
Recent AMD driver has been giving WoW players problems as well. Roll back to an old version for now, report to AMD.
Do you play in fullscreen? I’ve noticed a weird problem in this week if playing on fullscreen the game just randomly closes without any message or logs or crash window. I had tought was my mouse with misfunction was causing this, but even after i had bought new mouse the problem still persist when i play in fullscreen. The problem for me, in borderless reduces FPS alot because it keeps rendering windows stuff and the game, at same time fighting with GPU/CPU between they. Idk if overwatch is incompatible with multi monitor, because i use my laptop with secondary monitor as main monitor (this can be cause?).
I’m having the same issue after upgrading from a Ryzen 3600 + 2070s to a 5700x + 6950xt
Does this work with the 7800 xt?
I don’t have that card to test it, but using an old driver isn’t going to hurt anything if the card supports it.

I tried it today with very similar results unfortunately. I’m trying to see if it’s a driver compatibility issue or if mine is faulty
Does this driver issue affect older gpus like the 6700 ?
Yes it does affect the 6700 series
So I tried using a 6700 non xt on the latest drivers in Overwatch and it did great so I believe the issue lies either in my own 7800 xt or 7800 xts in general in desperate need of better drivers
Have you had bad performance on any other games by chance?
Using 7800XT with i5-13600KF brand new computer, Win11 Fresh install, I experience random crashes with error reports while the card shows almost no GPU or temp load.
Doesn’t matter if I run the latest driver to date (23.9.3) or an older one (23.9.1 in my case, to solve a similar issue with Modern Warfare 2). Every other driver is up to date.
I’m using Minimal install to ensure no overlay gets in the way.
This is my first time building with an AMD card. Is this how it is ? I never ran into a issue like this with my previous Nvidia cards.
Hey all,
Try disabling Radeon Boost in the AMD Radeon Settings and then test the game again. AMD has a support article on their site about how to configure these settings if you need it.
There may be an instability issue with newer AMD drivers which is causing the game to crash. Disabling Radeon Boost has helped some.
We do recommend reporting this to AMD as well if it helps.

It does seem to run a little better when I completely turn off hyper Rx and instead going to default. I will try some more and see how it goes

With minimal install, I do not have access to GPU presets. So I’ll be trying disabling Radeon Boost.
I get overwatch crashes after couple minutes of playing as well, but only when I have Second Life open at the same time… radeon boost is disabled, everything else should be fine. I have a 7900xtx. Actually it happened with D4 as well… why does it happen just to blizzard games… come on…

Can confirm. I disabled Radeon Boost and so far it didn’t crash again. (5800X3D and 6800xt). Let’s hope it’s just that.
