Sometimes when I play, my screen suddenly goes black and unresponsive. I can only close it using Alt F4. It happens with seemingly no cause that I can see. Only thing I’ve noticed is that if I start clicking the screen after the crash, a windows error sound is heard. It is extremely annoying, it seems unpredictable, to the point where I can’t dare to play competitive. Help .
Do you have Razer branded devices? If so, this sounds like the Razer Chroma SDK issue. If you have Razer Synapse on your system, try updating to Razer Synapse 3 - Cloud-Based Hardware Configuration Tool | Razer United States. This should update the Razer Chroma SDK and prevent the crashes on launch.
Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the app you linked, and played for a while to test to see if it fixed. But just now it crashed again. The screen just freezes. It didn’t black screen this time, though. Just froze in the frame it was on.
Do me a favor and do a Scan and Repair on Overwatch if you have not done so since installing Razer Synpase.
When it finished it said that no repairs where necessary.
Hey xLadivx,
Would you be able to provide some system files?
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
- Paste the DxDiag into a new post, select and highlight everything you just pasted, and hit the “code” button (</>). That’ll make the information much more readable.
Hello, Apparently my dxdiag is over the character limit… But here it is in pastebin form, I hope you don’t mind! Also, I’m sorry for the late response!

Hey xLadivx,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. I looked over the system files and noticed that the Nvidia driver is a little out of date, so you may want to grab the latest version from here.
It also looks like Razer was crashing with a game, so you may want to try disabling that software entirely.
If this persists, let’s get your MSinfo through Pastebin.
Oooookay. So after some extremely thorough testing… I can safely say that the problem is gone. For good. Hopefully. I updated my drivers and shut down Razer synapse, and everything seems to be going smoothly.
I can’t thank you enough for your help! Sorry for the month late response, but I wanted to say thanks.
