Your game has been suffering for years now but there are many of us who still play it and kept it alive yet we’re being told that selection into OW2 beta is random??? This could have been the time for you to start to reward your loyal playerbase. You could even at least make it on first come first serve basis when people opted in.
It’s not about having to wait another day because anyone can do that but it’s seeing Blizz continuing to disappoint their playerbase with their questionable decision making. It’s a little upsetting to see my friend who last played OW 7 months ago and is now playing the beta while I’ve been consistently playing this game and being left out. That friend of mine wouldn’t even know about OW2 beta if I didn’t tell him to opt in. I’m happy he got access but I do think I’m reasonably justified in being upset at how the beta rollout turned out to be.
Yep… longtime players, daily players, the ones that keep their numbers up to show to big wigs and shareholders… you can get bent, the devs don’t care about you, your loyalty, or your love of OW.
Streamers that don’t even play Overwatch and random people who just came back to sign up, come on in! Get rewarded for literally nothing!
Please don’t ignore the point of the post. It is not about waiting, we’ve all been waiting for years now so another day is fine. This is in regards to the rollout process. If Blizz told us today that ALL of us have to wait another day to have beta access, I’d be fine with it. Like what’s new about that. But the issue is SOME of us have access today and that’s totally random without regards for their loyal playerbase.
EDIT: That friend of mine I mentioned is already offline lmao. Not even an hour in, he’s already gone. Maybe that’s what Blizz intended lol.
I only find it disappointing because friends that haven’t played in years got in. I’m happy for him, but also…dang, I’ve been waiting so long for this and to have to keep waiting, likely watch streams for 4 hours tomorrow to get access.
That really is the word I’d use to describe it - it’s disappointing. I don’t blame them, otherwise newer players would wait to get in. I’m not angry with them. I’m just…disappointed in the overall fact that so many people are playing it, now I’m in OW1 with most of my friends in Beta, and I’m kind of just lonely today in Overwatch wishing I could play with them, too.
Wait, won’t you only have to watch 8 hours of streaming? or is it just an open beta after a day? I still think that being able to earn access is a fantastic marketing tool as its a great way to satisfy customers, build hype, and help streamers.
If I’ve learned anything in my many years as a loyal Blizzard game player it’s that Blizzard doesn’t care about the little person who plays more. They are only concerned with generating new users and marketing. If you have been supporting Blizzard games forever, they already have you. They don’t NEED to turn you on to their game. They know we will just wait for our turn.
Loyalty towards blizzard is punished not rewarded.
I love how these “OMG I AM A LOYAL PLAYER AND DIDN’T GET IN IT WAS RANDOM!” posts are just like… every other post juxtaposed with the “ONLY STREAMERS AND TOP PLAYERS GOT IN” .
I have been loyal to the Blizzard brand for 6 years. How dare they not add console opt in exclusively for me, ThiccBuddha. I MADE them and this is how they pay me back? Despicable. I am boycotting the game for 3 weeks. Nobody will play Overwatch 1 once I spread the news with my slow PSN keyboard. Oh, and I will. It will take me the entire 3 weeks to send them out, so that is PROOF that I am not playing the game. Fight the system!
Nope! Not me! I work a day job, so can’t sit here streaming for 4 effing hours. So I’m screwed.
Yes it does. We kept the game and company alive. What exactly did those who didn’t play the game do at all for the company? Other than boycott moreso when the cosby nonsense and the CEO who shall not be named awful behavior was revealed?
They need people who are fresh too, lot of my friends got key while I didn’t (by that time), they are newbies comparing to my main and alts, but I’m still happy they did, I don’t agree with them as much as you think I might do because I played more and I know more about game itself on every rank, they have been on specific one, but I can just jump on alt and play on bronze in the same minute they were complaining about those players and show them that they are wrong and for example widow is not as powerful as they think if you are bronze not gm.
My playtime and my experience is so much different for theirs, and I know that, sometimes they don’t agree something should be changed, then again, I’m proving them to be wrong quite often.
They need players who are new and players who are old, not saying that people who just sign in without playing for a year is good choice if they won’t balance it with old ones, but it does its thing choosing fresh people who will jump on beta and play it like almost first time playing ov in their life.
Like I said, I have about 4k h if I’d count all of my playtime from main and alts, I have every rank I can jump in without a problem and I play a lot.
I’m not streamer, not newbie either, got key after 6h delay in the middle of the night at my time. It was random but it was balanced enough to get good old players and fresh new ones.
If you look around, more and more companies are making rewards/loyalty programs. Must be some reason for that. Clearly, people like getting additional benefits for their loyalty and while sure, it’s a service so nothing is owed, it’s also an encouragement to keep going.
Imagine if OW1 had exclusive skins you got for playing a certain number of milestones. Like every 100 hours you get this super cool skin you can’t get any other way. You don’t think that’s a good way to reward players who stick with it? Or even to encourage others who are faltering?
I get that demanding compensation for loyalty is a bit iffy, but also saying ‘they owe you nothing’ is a bit far as well.
FFXIV had “veteran rewards”. After a certain point the investment necessary became ridiculous since you would have to commit to I think it was around 3 years of gametime to qualify for clouds outfit (might have been something else… was a while ago). So SE changed it so you could choose what you wanted from a different reward system that banked currency for getting ingame achievements.
“Loyalty” rewards are contractual traps to lock you into paying for a service or committing to it for stuff rather than playing a game because you enjoy it.
Never play a game or keep a subscription going just because you want to rack up points, or show “loyalty”.
Honestly, I prefer that over Battle Passes. Guess it’s just my own quirk I guess… I definitely jumped on the “Sub for 12 months and get this stuff” WoW has done several times.
And yet the irony here is that FFXIV is being praised with their expansions and WoW has been radically panned. So I guess their “loyalty” program worked to an extent haha!
