Rampant server connection issues for the past 2 weeks

Anyone else been ‘lost connection to game server’ in the middle of games, resulting in many penalties?

Sometimes it’s failed to connect to server before the match started, and we receive the penalties regardless.

Based on the technical support section of Overwatch Technical Support section, it seems that A LOT of people has been experiencing the same problem

I got suspended and banned for the entire S11 because of this problem.

I’ve got disconnected about 6x+ in the past week itself, BOTH COMPETITIVE AND QUICK PLAY.

The thing is when I can reconnect to the game, the enemies as well as teammates disconnected as well, yes I know about routing and all that, but it’s just a dumb excuse to shift the blame to the players when none of this is caused by the players fault.

I know all the typical “When the server shuts down, the message would be “Unexpected server error/closure.”" replies that is commonly given here, but the thing is, if 1/2 of the 10 players got disconnected, clearly there’s some routing problem and why are you guys still penalizing us for this?

I also know how game routing works, clearly the server chooses this route and different ISP has problem with this routing, is this the players’ fault that the server chooses this routing?

When will you guys ever take accountability and stop shifting the blame to the playerbase?

The player base is already dying and you guys are banning and suspending people left and right for routing issue? And think about it, how many people will QUIT the game because of this dumb issue because support tickets and all that takes ages to be replied to and most probably never going to be overturned?

Couldn’t login since yesterday.

Been experiencing server connection issues for the past 2 weeks as well.

  • Entering the game from the title screen sometimes could take up to 7 minutes.

  • Can’t enter Practice Range sometimes.

  • Can’t load Profiles sometimes.

  • When entering matches, sometimes I would get stuck on the screen and later get removed for inactivity followed by time penalties.

  • I also get kicked during matches sometimes.

  • The usual errors I get are “Lost Connection to Server” and the “LC-202”.

I got suspended as well as banned for the rest of the season too…

It’s outrageous for the past week itself I’ve gotten banned because of this, which means that over 10 disconnects in a span of 2 weeks because of this issue.

I’ve decided to quit OW and wait for Marvel Rivals instead, because clearly Blizzard doesn’t know what they are doing anyway and clearly there won’t be any changes in Overwatch in the near future with all these stupid problems they created for themself not the playerbase.

Servers do not choose routing. They are network racks that exist inside a datacenter and receive connections that your ISP routed to them through their own network and routing peers they pay for routing services.

Where are you connecting from and to which server?

Most problems I’ve had was with GSG and GTK

I know the servers do not choose routing, but the thing is in SG, its notorious being a server hub and it’s notoriously known to have problems with its routing regardless where you’re from, EVEN WITH VPN (I have both ExitLag and WTFast) used both (not at the same time) and this problem still persist, even if I don’t use VPN, problem still persist too.

Okay, so Singapore and Tokyo.

Bad routing does seem common in areas of the world where the majority of the internet infrastructure relies on undersea cables (which are susceptible to interference from wildlife and vessels) and routing through other nearby countries. Not much you can do about that to be honest — except hope that the ISP upgrades their infrastructure.

Yes, as Lollapalooza stated I’m based on SEA as well.

I’ve experienced the same problem as him.

Pretty much it’s a whole problem in the SEA community because majority of the SEA routes are from Singapore and yes as he said, it’s known to have routing issues, but is there really a need for you guys to add an insult to an injury to just penalize people this way?

I don’t work at Blizzard or have any say in penalties, neither do the customer support agents. The best thing you can do is post about penalties in General Discussion and Competitive Discussion, as developers often review those areas for player feedback.

Me to!!! I’m so sick, blizzard it’s getting so dirty, I want to play overwatch 2 but I couldn’t because I’m always disconnected. And I’m from Brazil, and many friends are having the same problem, it’s not possible to be my internet. I’m so sad
