Omnics dont reproduce and dont form romantic partnerships. They just care for each other like family.

The first part is true, the second part is not.
There have been several instances of game art in which you can see omnics in obvious romantic poses, including one omnic/human pairing. Remember that sex and romance are different. A person can be asexual but romantic, or they can be sexual but aromantic.

Guess i`m wrong then. Just seems weird to me as romance serves no real purpose for their race.
Well you think that because you equate romantic love with sex and procreation. Love doesn’t need to have a ‘purpose’, does it? It just is. Is not the true ‘purpose’ of romantic love to find a partner to share your life with? Many romantic human couples don’t have children or can’t have children, is romance then without purpose for them?
Asexual people find love and romance all the time, they just… don’t want to enter into the act of procreation.

Well romance and love are emotions created by hormones in our brains. There is some evolutionary reason why we feel these things. My guess is that romance promotes loyalty to a partner and thus makes the likelyhood of protection and survival higher for the couple as they age in the long term. Also promotes more support for potential offsping and protection for their survival. Omnics dont really age and dont reproduce. So forming romantic relationships just seems like a form of trying to adapt to the human race and try to fit in.
They’ll ship them regardless. I’ve seen people ship characters that don’t even know each other.
Well there is still a lot we don’t really understand about the way sentience works for Omnics, like for example—where it even comes from. The Omnics themselves seem to not even know. But along with that sentience came the ability to feel emotion, and among those emotions is love.
Is it adaptation? Perhaps. But if it is, it seems to be an unconscious adaptation that came along with their sentience/gaining of souls. I would call it evolution over adaptation. And not all omnics seem to have sentience or souls. Bastion, for example, was NOT sentient in the beginning and had no emotions. He was a war machine and nothing else. Somehow, he gained sentience and thus was born the Bastion short in which we see the process in a way.
