Raging at Enemy for Spawn Camping on Sombra

I was playing a game on Sombra, if we lost a team fight and an enemy was coming out of spawn I would go get the pick and then rejoin the team fight 5v4 with an advantage.

The enemy started raging because of the occasional spawn trapping saying it was unfair. As someone who played competitive sports I don’t understand the logic behind complaining about the enemy teams strategy for being effective.

The player complaining also happened to be playing mercy for their pharah, this is also a strategy that many players often criticize as being unfair, I don’t think any strategy is unfair, it’s a competitive game and the whole point is to use strategies that you think will be most effective. This adds an element of hypocrisy as they are using their effective strategy which many people believe to be unfair while arbitrarily deciding that my strategy is unfair.

Does it make sense to make up rules as to how the enemy should play?

General decency says not to spawn camp. “Win at all costs” says to do literally anything with no regard to decency.

Overwatch is definitely not a game known for its decency. Go nuts.

It certainly would feel bad to be a hero at a disadvantage to sombra who is waiting out of spawn, but it makes sense. A support is more valuable than a dps.

Who decides “general decency”, as I said, some players might believe pharah/mercy to not be a part of “general decency”. The whole point is to win, how does it make sense to deem certain strategies as too effective?

General decency. It’s not an official rule established by one person. General is not a complicated term.

It’s kinda like picking your nose in public. Nobody wants to see that, but lord almighty, it feels good to get rid of a dry, crusty chunk.

Generally, you don’t do things like spawn camp in QP or arcade, in comp it’s absolutely fair

I mean it’s fair game but just try to think about how it feels to be on the receiving end and you’ll understand why they’re frustrated

I know how it is to be stomped, so i never stomp another team if i can, i give them a chance for a comeback and a good fight

No. But I’d also still argue that Sombra’s trash hero design allows for stupid and annoying things like what you’ve mentioned to happen. Really it almost encourages it.

It really is the Team’s fault for making such a hero, TWICE, and not anticipating the annoying aspects that come along with her kit.

Same can be said for SO many other heroes.

They say, don’t hate the player, hate the game. But if you ask me, the game was made by someone, so there’s definitely someone to blame.

You are describing a set of rules that you just admitted are unwritten, meaning that they are arbitrary as anyone can just make them up. Trying to guess unwritten arbitrary rules which are subject to to whims of individuals actually is very complicated.

When you play a competitive game the goal is to win so it makes sense to use an effective strategy, when you go in public there is no goal that you are advancing by picking your nose. This analogy makes no sense.

I agree that it makes sense to criticize how the game is balanced. However they said criticizing the enemy.

Sombra is pretty easy to counter on all roles, if we’re going to talk about what’s annoying then many people would say Mei is annoying and easy to get value on.

Than you are literally throwing to make the game close, that is unfair for your team.

by not standing infront of their doors but on objective?
fine then)

Nope. Keep holding them down, that’s your job.

You are saying that it’s unfair, implying that there is an unwritten rule. Yet you are breaking an actual written rule by throwing when you feel that the game is not close enough.

Interesting QP rule, so literally -“stomp enemy team on their spawn or get banned”?
If i have objective to secure the point i will secure it…by standing in it’s radius, nothing more, nothing less

I get where you’re coming from but implying pushing a team back to spawn and keeping them there is somehow wrong, well that’s a low SR take.

Generally it’s not a good idea to hold close UNLESS you’re trying to get a second fight on a team that doesn’t have to push payload very far. Used to happen a lot on Havana and Route 66 for example.

But if a team is bad enough that they can’t get out of spawn, well that’s on them. One team is going to win, one team is going to lose. Playing to win is what everyone should be doing.

This thread is clearly about comp and afking on the objective is not as effective as getting picks.

Ah, I thought “competivive game” as for thw whole OW vector
If competivie game mode with SR then yeah - I’m not interested in it at all and no’t playing it - Sorry for interruption. I’m here for the fun wich is now vanished from casual game modes
May be there are strick rules to follow wich you can read in game or on official site. I don’t know

It’s a viable strategy. But no honor winning with it either though.
