Radeon first match lag fix(?)

posting here cause ive been trying to find a solution for this for ages…and just saw a suggestion that finally seems to have fixed the issue…figured it might help others

if theres any drop in quality from this i havent been able to notice…but i was actually able to play the game right after booting up without having like 5 fps for the first 5 or so minutes of the day

The answer I received from the support forum years ago is that this is AMD’s fault and the OW team cbf trying to fix it. Meanwhile no other games have issues. (I get the feeling it rebuilds shaders in the background, every, single, time.)

this is what i always assumed as well…regardless, im just happy i can play right away and not have to a) wait to play after i start or b) make my team put up with my total ineptitude during first match (its kinda hard to play when you can count the frames)

like i said…whatever change it made in visual quality, i cant tell the difference so far

I can’t bring myself to lower texture quality in the drivers when I have 24gb of VRAM. Just one of the many reasons I’m currently not playing, but hanging around hoping the game goes back to what I used to love. (which would require a personnel change probably).

Root cause. It will almost surely require this.

the current direction has left ow2 live-service in an inferior state to ow2, both in terms of active players, relevance, twitch viewers, social sentiment metrics, and user experience feedback. The number of bugs (via polling of bug report forums) has gone up. The number of customer experience complains (via polling of survey group, reddit and forums) has also gone up. The steam reviews are well-documented, with much of the community feeling alienated.

Draw your own conclusions, but it seems outrageous how anyone could keep a job through all of that.
