Quiting overwatch this match maker is @$#%%^

Honestly the one thing that will kill this game and is killing this game is the terrible match maker. Honestly its beyond a joke now.

i spoke to a GM recently that told me games are not based off of skill and its more your teams skill added up which is why unless you grind for 5,000hrs you will never climb. Because half the games are insta loses and half of them are insta wins. Especially being a tank player it is incredibly hard to carry bad dps players.

I have sat there everyday saying to my friend on stream ok we lose this game because i won the last game and then we win this game cause i lost the last game. Ok we lose this game because we got a non switch widow or genji or tracer into a whatever. i can literally predict every win and loss within the first 30 seconds of the game.

So tell me how can i do this egzactly. i’ll tell you because this match maker is very very rigged and if your doing well it will make sure you don’t advance by giving you the worst dps players known to man and as a tank your ability to carry is extremely low unless you run a zarya or roadhog some busted tank like that.

and if you don’t believe me please go ahead and play some games and then look at your match history. Most of your games will be 1 win 1 loss 2 wins 2 loses the list goes on and on its so damn easy. I thought match makers were suppose to make fair games but its never a fair game its either one team wins by a landslide or the other team wins by a landslide. Never a balanced game.

I totally believe you.

As I have multiple screen shots of dos doing 5k dos while I am doing 22k on tank.

I get ques into teams that do 40-0 while my dos does 7-19.

We can’t do anything as the match making is wrecked.

Only thing I noticed is days like this happens in bumps. Some days I have gone without losing a game and today. I barely won 2 games out of 10.

Keep queuing if you are taking comp seriously. I gave up that ship long time ago as I am solo que. now I just farm clips while doing the most dps and kills.

I don’t take comp seriously. As the match making does not work. The group thing where it should not place me with wide group. While I am very well certain in a 3 man squad.

Good luck playing with no players. This games playerbase is practically dead because blizzard has no idea how to make a fair and balanced match maker. Its people like you that act like the problem does not exist will be the reason why the game will die once marvel rivals comes out.

ok sorry and thanks good luck you’re right

Yeah, the match maker is complete garbage. It’s frustrating being on a team with someone three or four ranks lower than you, while the enemy team have people in the same rank.

If you are better than your rank you will climb immediately. If you belong at your rank you will stay there until you improve.

If you decide that the constant problem in your games is your bad teammates rather than you not being good enough to carry them, you will likely stay at that rank for a while.

When you do well, the system updates its assessment of your skill and makes your games harder. People love to whine about this, but how else should a ranked matchmaker work? Just always give you teammates that carry you? Always make the enemy team worse than your team?

The way to climb is to carry your bad teammates for the few games you’ll have them in, rinse and repeat as new bad teammates cycle in.

Because spoiler alert; no matter how high you climb, your teammates will always be bad. As you get better, so does the standard you’ll have for how good your team should be. So even though your teammates are better, they will remain bad in your eyes.

Just rip off that band aid, there is no magic rank where your teammates are suddenly good.

Yet another incoherent deflection thread. Good thing I’m prepared for this:

"The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in zero-sum games such as chess or esports. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-American physics professor.

The Elo system was invented as an improved chess-rating system over the previously used Harkness system, but is also used as a rating system in association football, American football, baseball, basketball, pool, various board games and esports, and more recently large language models.

The difference in the ratings between two players serves as a predictor of the outcome of a match. Two players with equal ratings who play against each other are expected to score an equal number of wins. A player whose rating is 100 points greater than their opponent’s is expected to score 64%; if the difference is 200 points, then the expected score for the stronger player is 76%.

A player’s Elo rating is a number which may change depending on the outcome of rated games played. After every game, the winning player takes points from the losing one. The difference between the ratings of the winner and loser determines the total number of points gained or lost after a game. If the higher-rated player wins, then only a few rating points will be taken from the lower-rated player. However, if the lower-rated player scores an upset win, many rating points will be transferred. The lower-rated player will also gain a few points from the higher rated player in the event of a draw. This means that this rating system is self-correcting. Players whose ratings are too low or too high should, in the long run, do better or worse correspondingly than the rating system predicts and thus gain or lose rating points until the ratings reflect their true playing strength.

Elo ratings are comparative only, and are valid only within the rating pool in which they were calculated, rather than being an absolute measure of a player’s strength.

While Elo-like systems are widely used in two-player settings, variations have also been applied to multiplayer competitions."

Overwatch uses the Elo system, modified for multiplayer.

That is horse ****! Trying to play comp and win but every game/match is other team cheesing it like crazy. It is Bastion/Symmetra/Torbjorn/Sombra.

Do good as support I will bet you that they going to hard focus me like there is no tomorrow!

Either you get a tank that will play smart or a tank just standing there soaking up all possible damage and dies.

Won one game and it felt empty! It was the game just said here a win, like a consilation prize.

And then there was this game that just ended. It was on Circuit Royale. We doing ok and stopped the payload just before the first checkpoint. It was in the bag. And it felt ; “oh , this is win”. And the game closed no server issue or anything

Totally agree the only people saying this match maker works and is decent are delusional idiots. Honestly if people can’t see there is something terribly wrong with this match maker they are living life with their head in the sand. Its just one win followed by a loss over and over and over again and a lot of the time its impossible to carry because you will have team mates so bad their biggest elim score is 7 elims while the other team has 30-40 its honestly a joke match maker and i cannot take the game seriously anymore its that bad.

I usually have 9 wins followed by 9 loses but the rigged matchmaking is still clear as day.

If you place below your skill level, you will win most of your games and climb immediately. You may not win every game, but if you win more than you lose you’re going to climb. If you can’t do that, then you’re around where you belong. Your “true” rank is wherever your winrate is 50%.

And can you continue to perform when the enemy team is paying attention to you? If yes, you will tend to win and therefore you will climb. If no, then you’re not better then those players so you don’t deserve to climb.

See, you’re right about this, but not for the reasons you think you are. The problem is that the matchmaker is too good.

This is the matchmaker doing it’s job extremely well. You win one then lose then win again, it’s got you and everyone else in your lobbies pretty well dialed in.

The problem with this is mainly that it feels bad. People hate feeling the immediate feedback because we aren’t that consistent, so when you do well and the next game is instantly harder it feels unwinnable. Then because you got stomped it updates you again and the next game feels like a consolation prize. The adjustments made can be very minor, but when the system has you dialed in to a knife edge things feel super inconsistent.

Before the past ~5 years, most fps matchmakers were intentionally built to be a little bad. Or rather, slow to update your assumed skill. That lag in the matchmaking would let you feel more consistency in your games when you were just having an inconsistent performance, and it also let you feel when you were improving because you would have a larger sample size of games where you did well before the difficulty would rise to meet you.

The tradeoff for that is the matchmaking is less accurate so you will more often play into people that are just better than you and the matchmaker hasn’t updated them yet. And well, people are increasingly intolerant of that stuff since it became standard to crank the sbmm in casual modes too.

Are you a match making expert ? i think not this is match maker doing a terrible job. Games are never balanced always one sided. I have had games where non of the my team mates have more than 5 elims yet the enemy team is all on 20-25 sorry but your wrong on this. these games are never i repeat never balanced its always a land slide. Some games i have had i did nothing just to prove how rigged they were and we still won. Its a broken system that needs to be fixed or this game will be dead when Rivals comes out.

The game is full of people just holding M1 over the red things. I think some of them are bots. Some of them aren’t learning any better, because all the changes for OW2 are geared toward getting the most value from holding M1 over the red things without worrying about what the rest of your team is doing. The value of doing better than that has been reduced so much that some people aren’t learning to do better.

Count the ways “individual impact” is now favored over team play. Count the new ways you can get away with not relying on your teammates.

So, yeah. Your teammates really do suck.

Aye, I’m experiencing the same issue in Open Queue QP. The only difference is that my pattern is more like 5 wins, then 5 losses, on repeat.

This is such a crappy matchmaker system.
If you’re really good, you get dragged down by everyone else. If you’re very new, you just get steamrolled by everyone on the enemy team. And there’s no incentive for your teammates to look out for you, because they’ve already marked you as the team liability. You’re not gonna improve because nobody wants to give you a chance.
Proving that point: At one point, I reported a bunch of people for soft-throwing matches (I hate throwers so much it’s unreal), because I didn’t realise that these guys were probably just newer than me, because I never thought that Blizzard would implement such a stupid system in the first place. And going through the forums at the time, it was apparently a mistake that a lot of people made - there were TONS of complaints about throwers.

I understand that better players are supposed to protect the newbies with this matchmaker style, but there’s really no incentive to do this. Because the moment the newbie improves too much to qualify as a ‘new player’, you’re just gonna get landed with a fresh batch of useless newbies.

It’s EOMM, keeps you grinding for your rank so you spend more time in game and if you spend more time in game you get more invested in the game and it may incentivise you to buy more stuff from shop and if you buy more stuff from shop you get a few good boy bones thrown at you aka a few easy or normal matches so you can win and rank up.

You then start to feel good about winning and are having fun and may consider additional purchases, but if you dare stop spending prepare to get hardstuck in whatever rank you are, unless of course if you create a new account and start spending money there which is even better so you pump up that 100Bil solar system players number.

I donÂŽt know where my true rank is?
I’m stuck at gold 2 falling down to gold 3 was in plat 5

Now every game I win I get platinum 5 players on the other team in the next matchup. Every time it is dps on Bastion, Symmetra, Torbjorn or Sombra. it is like the MM cherry pick players who plays those heroes!

DonÂŽt get me started on the tank we have on my team.

I®m being practically spawn camped

I have always thought the match maker cherry picks payers who play bastion, torb pharah and sombra the decent heroes and when you start winning you get stuck with all the genji ,tracer and widow mains who have no idea how to play these heroes and bastion, junkrat torb and even hanzo are so easy to spam the other team just stomps you. This match maker is honestly the most rigged system i have ever seen. Why not just put bad players with bad players instead of punishing good players its a joke to be honest.

If this were true, it’s be quite funny.

Good luck with that.

:rofl: Blizzard Devs aren’t that good.

It would be funny if we did not have a playerbase? It’s definitely a sense of humor. Not one I fully understand, but
 I guess it’s subjective?
