Quickplay needs looking at

Quickplay mite aswell be in arcade mode because no one cares, 90% of the time you get 5 dps Insta locks.
For those wanting to learn and improve for comp it’s basically impossible unless you’re in a full 6 stack.

You improve by learning to play new heroes and getting better at them. Getting better at tracking and aiming overall will help you in comp.

I mean, it is called quick play, not comp practice. If you want a comp like setting, then your only gonna get that in comp.

Maybe instead of being negative and condemning the community, suggest ways in which blizzard could actually change things? Say, a comp practice mode which follows comps rule set but you dont get CR or SR for it. Telling people to change rarely works…

I apologise for the negativity, there are definitely games in QP which are fun with great team comps.

Maybe a change QP where you can earn more rewards so people will want to try?

So you’re saying I should run my practice games in comp?

How do I get into your games with my alt-account? Don’t worry if I suck. I’m just “practicing in comp” like you say I should.

Never said you should practice in comp, i said that your only going to find the comp mentality in comp.

Instead of trying to force a comp mentality on those who dont want it, aka half the people who play quick play, we should ask blizzard for a mode to let us practice comp.

My pointing being quick play doesn’t work as a comp practice. Telling people to treat it as such wont work either.

Getting 5 dps as a solo support is actually really good practice. You can’t make any individual mistakes because you are priority target number 1 and you don’t have comms, peels or shields.

You are forced to be extra cute with positioning and be extra careful if things like infrasight/sonic arrow is up because you will die instantly when you peek, causing your whole team to wipe.

I think of it like a worst case scenario. Like going for a run with a 20kg backpack. Its hard work and you wonder “why am I doing this?” but then you get a shield tank, a 2nd support and a dVA who peels for you. You drop the 20kg backpack and its just so easy in comparison.

Can’t practice for comp if you don’t practice with a comp mentality. You’ll learn bad habits.

If the only place to practice “comp mentality” is in comp, then it means that the only place to practice for comp is in comp. In which case, I would like to practice in your games in order to spare other people who might disagree with you from my practice-game-incompetence while I figure out what I’m supposed to do in comp as compared to QP, which is not comp.

Almost all of the matches I’ve had today have been 2-2-2. Same as yesterday. I barely encounter all DPS. Either there is always a healer or at least one tank.

I agree with you there, but take for example I had a game earlier, 4 people Insta lock dps the 5th went healer and I the 6th went tank. The 5th guy who went healer then refuses to solo heal and went hanzo staying “in not going to solo heal, if we don’t get another healer I’m just gonna troll” none of the dps would switch and as a solo tank I felt for the team comp it best I stay tank, healer proceeds to go hanzo and the game is horrible.

Im not sure to why, but i feel like you are annoyed at me?

I am not telling you that you cant practice comp in Quick play, or you should practice in your comp matches. We clearly agree on a certain level, there is no place to properly practice for comp. Yet you seem set on the fact that im saying you should just deal with it?

You will cause a lot more conflict wanting to force people to play the way you do when they dont want to. Hence rather than causing a war between parts of the community, it would be a lot more productive to instead request for blizzard to find a solution? Or even suggest a viable one your self? Simplest one is see is literally creating a comp practice mode.

There really should be a skrim mode with some sort of role queue.

When you mix in these people with the casual players, You get threads like these.

Maybe?

I feel that comp is where you go to tryhard. You don’t go into comp and then pull out the “lol guys, I was just practicing my !” card when you lose, because that is called “throwing” and should be reportable.

However, people need a place to practice for comp, and that should be quickplay. Besides which, balanced comps are more fun that BS QP 5-dps + one unfortunate flex player comps where the only person who seems to want to actually win the freaking game is the poor flex player stuck on a healer without a tank trying to run after five flanker dps n00bs who all think they can carry.

Those games are a freaking nightmare, and you’re defending them.

I find them to be an utter waste of time, and they really annoy me.

Now this sounds good.

Have a role que for a basic 2-2-2 team comp, will be alot better for those trying to learn and improve to play as a team.

People could even set up comps e.g l. 1dps 3 tank 2 healer so they can practice in those specific comps?

No, it could be quick play. There is no should about it. You just want a mode where everyone plays with a comp mentality to practice in.

The problem is, you see quick play in one light, and others see it in another. Its the standard mode. No really punishment for losing and little intensive to play well. Plus there are a lot of people who don’t want that comp mind set but don’t want the weird rules of arcade, so they play quick play.

In telling them that they are playing the game wrong, a game they spent money on to enjoy, and the only way to play it is a way they dont enjoy playing it is just wrong. All it will do is annoy them and cause them to stubbornly not change. It is their game just as much as yours.

So the easiest solution would be to have a designated mode to practice comp. If you go in there you know what to expect. This would help both sides. Those who dont want to have to deal with people trying to practice for comp can stay in quick play and play how they want, whilst they dont bother those who want to practice.

QP should have an exclusive reward, just like comp.

I think the issue is there is no reason to win in Quick play
No Reward of any Tangible value

If QP is the goof around mode, what is the arcade for? or custom games? (especially custom games. they can be what ever you want them to be.) I mean if blizzard has said comp is the game, as it should be played, then wouldn’t qp be a quick version of that?

add-on: I mean what I am seeing here suggest that 75% of your options under the play screen are goof around and 25% is try to win.

Yeah pretty much, or from your view point at least.

Arcade has weird rules, comp has a very strict mind set. Quick play is where people go to avoid both and just play. We need another mode really.

Completely agree, and this is why waiting for May to play as Brigitte in Competitive is a joke.
