The droves of leaving in Quickplay are examples of POOR match making that is never getting fixed in this game. Anyone else just flat-out tired of how match maker is in this game and wish they would do REVERTS on it?
if they made it longer someone else would come here and complain about queue times, tbf it is quick play the ideal matchmaking for a balanced game is comp
I tried playing tank again (used to be tank before they were gutted but now hang around DPS) but it is matching me up in games with tanks with gold borders or gold+silver (whatever that is) mixed. I am only level 218 bronze, a relative newcomer. The games are way over my skill level so I just feel rolled each time and half the time I leave so my team might get a replacement that is better. In other games I am getting a level 20 bronze tank with me and on the other team 2 high silver border or gold and again rolled.
Iâve gone back to DPS for now as thereâs not a decent QP game to be had as tank. Not to mention that almost every game is a sniper-fest with no barriers and tanks and getting slaughtered if the widow is even a little decent (doesnât have to be very good with the size of tank heads).
So what youâre basically saying is that people who donât want to spend 30+ minutes on 1 match, has to accept an unbalanced match making, just because of the name of the mode?
Even though itâs QP doesnât mean itâs acceptable to have horribly one sided matches. And to be frank, the MM system in Competitive isnât exactly any better.

Well thing is, youâre saying that QP should be unbalanced because itâs just suppose to be a quick match and if you want a balanced match you should go competitive. But the description of QP is âJump into a game against other players of your skill levelâ, which means QP is indeed suppose to be a balanced match. Just because itâs QP doesnât mean we should accept unbalanced matches. Just because competitive also exists doesnât invalidate QP as a game mode.
QP as in it plays out quick!

So is this why someone ranked in high plat can be matched with silver or gold players? I mean, more lenient or just down-right broken?
there will be a balance, say you have a team of 7, 5, 5, 5, 5, 3 and the enemy is 6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4 its balanced even if 7 and 3 are 4 ranks different the teams are still balanced enough
No theyâre not, and this is why you get those horrible one sided matches. Take a wonky MMR system, combine it with a lot of playerâs bad attitude towards QP and sprinkle it with ineptitude from the developers. And you get a good reason why a lot of people leave Overwatch. And why itâs not recommended for anyone to pick up and play overwatch as a ânew playerâ.
i mean you cant do anything about player attitude , the mmr seems fine once youre not low rank and honestly you cant expect every game to be akin to comp
Level doesnât mean anything. Iâm level 146 and Iâve spanked players with platinum boarders
I donât think the developers actually care if you leave quick matches or there would be stiffer penalties.
There is no rank in QP MMR, it doesnât value rank at all. Itâs more or less just who pressed queue at the same time, thatâs how it feels like.
And why canât people expect QP to be akin to QP? Exactly, player attitude. Which you showcase now as well, stating more or less directly that just because itâs the QP mode, then itâs OK if it gives a bad player experience.

I know, and that hidden MMR have been a constant source of complain ever since the game was in beta. Back in beta it was a terrible match-setup because of a low sample size of players. During release they were working on a solution that would be released sometime around Competitive. When competitive was released they were waiting to see how competitive played out.
So basically weâve had over 4 years of a broken MMR in QP which they deliberately have refused to do anything about.
I understand that is generally true, but Iâve been finding the games where Iâm the lowest or one of the lowest levels with a few players at much higher levels are very uneven games, especially when the higher levels are mostly on 1 team. The MM seems to be most frequently putting the 2 highest level tanks on 1 team and the 2 lowest levels on the other. Not sure if this is a bug. To compensate quite often the supports are the other way around. But doing it that way does not even out the teams - if 1 team has much stronger tank players they are most likely to steamroll the other team (and thatâs what Iâve been seeing).
