Every game is filled with leavers at this point they should all be banned.

I think Blizzard really needs to survey the player base and figure out WHY they are leaving. Surely there’s a way to do this, right?

People have left all the time even in OW1. The major reasons are usually
- Map type.
- Hero’s being played.
- A particular unit or two’s performance.
- A dominating enemy team player.
- The very idea of backfilling in the first place.
No survey is going to change what’s already stated. I just wish we had harsher penalties build up more swiftly. I’m not sure if there is no penalty on leaving hero select, but I’ve had exp penalty only once and I’ve left my fair share of games over time and maybe got warned an exp penalty was coming only a few times.
Leaving just feels inconsequential. At the same time, I’ve frequently had better games after swapping out a few allies. Normally, the people who suck at particular situations that caused people to leave are replaced by someone eventually who is comfortable in the situation and knows how to deal with it.

Absolutely. They have code in the game that gathers all kinds of data about what players do.
They’ll be able to easily see which maps people leave most in, what happened before they left, what team comps cause more leavers ect.
This is why i leave games every single time i get 1 shot by hanzo or widow.

Then you have stuff like this where the player base is incredibly fragile and can’t handle difficult situations.
Leaving should always be an option if having a bad time, but too many people leave over the slightest problems.
Leaving when unfun things happen lets me tell the devs that the unfun thing isnt fun directly.
I mean, if you wanna just tolerate stuff you dont like, feel free. As a grown up, i like to do what i can to solve my problems and improve the game.

Life if full of stuff you don’t like doing. At least TRY to play for a few minutes before giving up.

Yes, and i dont tolerate doing things i don’t like doing if i don’t have to, especially in a video game that i play for fun. Doubly so if i can both solve the issue AND help others improve things for me.
I play entire games without leaving most of the time - I’m good at avoiding 1 shots. However, to give the devs the best data i can, i ensure the 1 shot is as close as possible to the time i leave.

People should be able to leave if they want to, we just need actual penalties for doing so.

Just give us solo queue and you’ll see less people leave. Also delete push

Strict the matchmaker don’t care if queue times go drastically up. Let’s us pick modes in QP we want to queue for. Own up to being a failure to balancing the game which is causing players to leave matches. Don’t need harsh penalties because drive more players away.

the people that are wanting leaving penalties are the schoolyard bullies themselves. They want to wail on players and they want the players that leave the match to be forced to take the abuse.
bottom line is. These matches are unfair and the skill difference is too great.
I run a midwestern beekeeping operation in the US and I wouldn’t force a person to go without a bee suit on and work our holding yards. Thats abuse.
People dont want the abuse in this game and the people that think players should be forced to take the abuse are the reason why we have leavers in the first place.

I think it’s very rare to complete a game without at least 1 leaver. After the game started. If they left before cuz it map, whatever.

They are the issue. The person that leaves you in a 4v5. But continues to queue knowing they will quit at the slightest inconvenience

There are multiple issues for sure, but quitting on first death from a hero you don’t like is pretty sad, and part of the problem.

You’re not helping the game, just hurting your team. With 0 lack of care for anyone else. It’s selfish, and sad, but you do you.
Yet the devs aren’t doing anything to help the game either. Leaving terrible QP game is only a way to somewhat enjoy the game
